Initial Reactions to the Assassination of Former Lebanese President Rafiq Al-Hariri
Initial Reactions to the Assassination of Former Lebanese President Rafiq Al-Hariri on Al-Alam TV (Iran) and Abu-Dhabi TV on February 14, 2005.

Lebanese commentator Faysal Abd Al-Sattar: Who stands to profit? Undoubtedly, Israel and its supporters in the region are the ones who profit most from this event. In addition, Israel may have perpetrated this act or recruited some agents or apparatus to do so. This is not alien to the Israeli policy of targeting the stability of the Arab region, particularly of Lebanon, in past years.

Lebanese commentator 'Iqab Safar:We must distinguish between the questions 'Who profited' and 'Who perpetrated' because there may be many parties who profit from the murder of Raqif al-Hariri, both external parties and internal ones. I hope there will not be any 'heroes' or 'wise guys' who hasten to accuse the Israeli enemy of the murder of Rafiq al-Harari--or the Israeli Mossad. We must wait and see what evidence the investigation uncovers.

___

Interviewer:There are some people who say that Israel is behind this assassination. Can this be?
Hassan Nafe'a, Cairo University Research Center:It's definitely possible. The Mossad agents have a lot of experience in this field, but this accusation will not be established before the Lebanese authorities find proof of this. In my opinion, this direction of investigation would be completely justified.

My guess is that it could be anyone. Probably Syria or a terrorist group though. The Israeli's could be involved but I really, really doubt it. But in the ME everyone is a suspect I guess.

Since the guy killed was running in opposition to the Syrian controlled puppet president, and as he proposed making peace with Israel, I think it is pretty obvious that Syria did the killing. Besides, the Jews have a long history of trying to limit casualties in passersby when they go after someone.

This is Syria's answer to Condi's demands of Syria to distance itself from the politics of Lebanon. Bet it was not loud enough for her to understand though.

I am pretty sure it was Syria or a related terror group.

?

As I said I DO NOT think it was Israel but would not rule out that there is a one in a billion chance.

Apparently that is pathetic.

It could have been the US, Alqueda, Syria, Israel but I would imagine it was Syria.

I never said or imagined that it would be settlers.

I apologise for keeping an open mind about targetted bombings in the ME. As has been stated literally anyone coulld have been involved as virtually all parties involved use these tactics to deal with threats.

You may put your toys back in the pram now.

I said could I did not say they would do it.

I also said a one in a billion chance.

You consistently stalk me over several threads then post your garbage against me without actually bothering to read my posts.

I never rule anything out and try to look at things with an open mind. I do not jump to conclusions like you and insult people calling them a crack user and pathetic.

I comment on threads about Britain, the US, Europe, Asia and Israel. Pretty much every continent.

The reason I am here is because I support GWB, democracy and the US and its allies (ie Britain, Israel etc).

I also enjoy the quality and quantity of facts and sources.

If you take issue with one of my posts then please read all my posts on a thread before replying. If you do this you may realise that we may have similar opinions on at least a few things. It is always a good idea to work on things we do agree on then discuss what we do not agree on sensibly.

I am sure there are plenty of things you know that I do not and vice versa and I genuinely hope in the future we can both refrain from jumping to conclusions and making insulting posts.

I have never brought up the issue of British Mandate of Palestine as I do not see the point of rehashing something that is used by anti-semites to divide Israel from its allies. We have a strong leftist contigent in the UK who love to bring this up but we also have many people who look to the future rather than the past.
