1 Dead After Bowling Alley Shooting
GLENWOOD, Iowa -- A man opened fired at a Glenwood bowling alley Sunday night, killing a man.
Police respond to a Glenwood, Iowa, bowling alley after a man opened fire.
A man with a rifle walked into Midwest Lanes just after 6 p.m. The man, in his mid-40s, started shooting at another man who was bowling. At least four shots were fired. One of them hit the Pacific Junction man in the chest.
Two people in the bowling alley jumped the shooter and held him down until police arrived. There were more than two dozen people inside the bowling alley at the time of the shooting, including several children.
"Right at the moment, we are lining up with the Red Cross a post-trauma shooting team to come down and visit with a number of these people because of the event they witnessed," said Glenwood Police Chief John O'Conner.
"It's scary that someone can walk into a business and with a gun and shoot someone on the spot," said witness Sherri Bishop.
The victim was transported to an Omaha hospital and pronounced dead. Glenwood police have not released the name of the suspect or victim.

Wow, they didn't call the weapon an "assault type rifle"....I thought all rifles were "assault type". /sarcasm
Wonder if this is some guy that heard about the NY shooter and decided to do the same.

Two people in the bowling alley jumped the shooter and held him down until police arrived. Damn people don't know how to be good victims anymore. Now how are the Brady folks going to turn this into a call to grab more guns?

"It's scary that someone can walk into a business and with a gun and shoot someone on the spot," said witness Sherri Bishop. It's even scarier that because of stupid gun laws all you can do in such a situation is stand by helplessly and pray you're not next.

And why didn't they jump the gun and hold it down instead of the shooter? The gun was the one doing the shooting.

Now how are the Brady folks going to turn this into a call to grab more guns? They will use the logic that since those smaller guns shot people we should ban bigger 50 caliber rifles that can only be used by terrorists.

Of course. Weapons of choice, etc.

This is very interesting. Seems like all of a sudden, public gun violence is getting some news coverage. A look at the big Anti-Gun organizations indicate that this is within two moths of their big "Planning Meetings". This seems like just the kind of thing that they are looking for. Oh how convienent!
Now if I were a conspiritorial person I might suspect some kind of link. But, I'm not. We'll just have to chaulk it up to a random event occurance...EVEN though the STATISTICAL odds are against it being unrelated. I must keep my eyes and ears open for the third news event of this nature.
Hum...It could be 1991 all oaver again.

I have to wonder what these "teams" are telling people. I guess I'm jaded--but all these "psychological" trauma things turn me off. Life happens--deal with it!

"Red Cross a post-trauma shooting team..."
Hmmm...I didn't know the Red Cross had a shooting team. I guess that's good. Wonder what they shoot? Too bad they weren't there in time to shoot the perp first! That would be a good application of "First Aid."
Maybe they mean a Red Cross Post Shooting Trauma Team? They are probably there to make sure blame attaches to the gun.

Yeah, we spent yesterday fighting off the press...because stuff like this doesn't happen very often in small towns.
