His bet depends on his interpretation of the Bible. This shyster is looking for attention, nothing more.
I notice the "D" after Rep. Holmes name does that signify Devil or Demon as in the he is a liar and the Truth is not in him? To deny the plain Truth of the Word of God is willful foolishness. I pity the people that voted this one in.
"The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. I think this lawmaker is splitting hairs about the definition of the word marriage, not whether the Bible condones homosexuality.
The whole business about the definiton of 'is' still cracks me up after all this time. Even after that whole business, the MSM still pretends not to understand why the American people prefer a president who talks straight and doesn't split hairs over 'slick talkers' who dodge the issues with legalistic mumbo-jumbo. I shouldn't have to spend hours disecting speeches to figure out that a certain candidate would have pulled us out of Iraq the moment he was elected. </end rant>

I am not a Biblical scholar, but I am not sure the Bible talks about marriage at all. I am not sure what the Greek word is for union, but the Latin word is unus, which means one. It wasn't until middle English that union came to mean marriage. What will be interesting is to find out what it actually says in Greek. But, as far as I know the Bible doesn't talk about marriage specifically at all.
About these:
Hebrews 13, v 14 says: "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." Now identify whoremongers & adulterers in 1 Corinthians 6, v's 9-10 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

More passages are definitely applicable. A Strong's Exhaustive Concordance will help shed some more light on this important subject.
The politicians are clearly wrong on this one and will have to fork over cash (if asked to), but this is not over money, so I would recommend that they keep it.
This is clearly not a monetary issue, to say the least, as it is much more important than that. Introducing money and lucre into this issue as a wager is abominable.
Then why comment on a subject on which you have no knowledge?
I am not sure if any of these passages restrict marriage between men and women. I know nothing about the Bible, but would appreciate if anyone can look up the original Greek versions of those passages.
