Isn't he leaving the CBS Evening News in about a month anyway? That's the scuttle-butt, not leaving 60 minutes though nor CBS, merely stepping aside as anchor of the nightly show. But then, last I heard, the other 4 who took the fall have refused to resign as they were asked to do. Sheesh! What ever happened to a good old fashioned firing with these (and I use the term loosely) "news people"???

Now thats its over, how will the MSM introduce the Eason Jordon story to its readers/viewers? Pretend it never happened?
Sure, keep using that playbook. The bloggers will be writing your obits.

Campagna said. "But we remain very concerned about whether U.S. forces are adequately working to insure that journalists who are civilians are not harmed in areas of conflict."Since when?
The U.S. military does not now nor has it ever existed to "protect" journalists; Specially treasonous ones.
Go to a war zone and take your chances.
Since "journalists" may not have any national allegiances in order to be "objective", how is that asinine statement consistent? Have the U.N. protect you, loser!

1) "We have not concluded that U.S. forces have deliberately targeted journalists," Campagna said.
2) "But we remain very concerned about whether U.S. forces are adequately working to insure that journalists who are civilians are not harmed in areas of conflict."
Its a distraction, a diversionary spin. The second sentence has nothing do to with the first. Concern over safety provided by US forces has nothing to do with the false allegations of Jordan.

Which liberal news outlet will pick him up, or will he just be put on staff by the Democratic National Committee? There's a difference?

"There have been 36 journalists and 18 support staff killed in Iraq since March 2003, said Joel Campagna, Middle East program coordinator for the Committee to Protect Journalists. It has been determined that U.S. forces were responsible for 11 of the deaths, he said."How many of those 11 were "journalists" for al-Jazeera, carrying a notepad in one hand and an AK-47 in the other?

""Jordan said in a memo to fellow staffers yesterday that he was resigning to keep CNN from being unfairly tarnished." "
"unfairly tarnished" nothing!
CNN has no reputation left to get tarnished.
It all went out the window when this same Eason Jordan admitted to covering up Saddam Hussein's horrendous, genocidal crimes against humanity, so CNN could be allowed to stay on in Baghdad.
We haven't even talked about the nasty anti-Bush campaign carried out by CNN and the massiveanti-Republican bias displayed by CNN over the past 15 years at east.

In reading about this elsewhere, I was struck by the fact that they seemed to be saying that Jordan was resigning because of "the controversy" over his remarks, not because he's a treasonous liar. On the one hand, it makes it sound as if the poor guy's been hounded out of his job by the reckless rabble, but on the other hand maybe it acknowledges that this kind of stuff's been going on among the "news folks" for a long time, but now they're getting caught at it.

Exactly right!

The next question: what was Barney Frank's motivation for his comments at the Davos meeting? Outrage at Eason? or did he believe it and want evidence for a smear job? I'm dieing to hear the tape.

This kind of "apology" is so transparent. Why apologize when someone misunderstands you? I would paraphrase it as "I'm sorry you're such a moron".
Sorry Eason, I don't accept your "apology".
"I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise," Jordan said in his memo to CNN staffers.
