Not so ‘Free Republic’: The Shot Heard Around the Net
The Conservative Voice ^ | Feb 11, 2005 | by William Gheen, President, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC

Posted on 02/11/2005 10:55:36 AM PST by Jim Robinson

The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.

The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The management’s answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.

Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.

Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bush’s immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the President’s Oath of Office.

Women learn foreign languages easier but ask any college dead why they have to go begging for women science standouts?

We are not all the same....everyone has a gift....like The Littlest Angel.

More than half of the biology graduate students were women when I went to college. I remember working in the lab and the women were as bad as the men *lol* You can still be a mommy and speak different languages though. I never went grad school because I felt it would be a waste if I was going to be a stay at home mom. Boy do I regret that!

Nuts I say too! lol

Hey - I agree with you!

I just don't think you realize that White Nationalist groups have been the domain of bigots, and the White Supremacist guys I've known for years in East Texas gravitated there and tried to pretend their new label made them any less revolting.

And no. I don't see bigotry easily at all. Remember my earlier posts in this thread? I despise the crying of wolf. My husband had to have police guard for a week for saying something many thought was racist against Mexicans - a lot of people believe he is racist. He isn't. Trust me - I know what the knee jerk feels like.

But just because some knee jerk does not mean there's nothing there ever. And if we don't repudiate the actual racism, we are fools. We sure have no right to whine about being called racist if we don't separate ourselves and make our disgust for the real ones known.

I have no clue about what sites those women link to. Michelle Malkin is my idoless. Coulter's personality it too ... rough around the edges for me personally, so I tune her out. lol

**Wow I've never attributed some lack of talent in my life to a racial difference.

From my experience, in SoCal, the Asian parents REALLY encourage education of their children. I mean REALLY. It's awesome to see...

BTW, I know we are not all the same but people can assume a lot of things about people that are based on broad generalizations and they'd be dead wrong.

Yeah. My mom only allowed me to be friends with kids like that. It's not unusual to me to have pushy parents.

Naaaaa......I probably worded that wrong. Pushy isn't at ALL what I mean.

They're always there for the parent/teacher conferences, those kids TURN IN THEIR HOMEWORK doggone it!...stuff like that. The parents and grandparents come to the Open Houses...they see the NEED for a good education for their kids.

I have lived outside the US from 1980 -1996 mostly though my residence was here.

In nashville, I know of no organized racism other than nation of islam.

I'm just out of the loop though I grew up with the real thing and my family was threatened for it on occasion though by today's lofty barometers, my dad and his dad would be called racist like I am.

I did actually meet two Christian Identity folks once through circumstances I would prefer not to discuss here. They of course don't much care about the fight with anyone but The Jews. everyone else is fodder in their view.

Knowing I was a culture war rightist, they prosletyzed me but I told them they were nuts and that Hitler damn sure did kill millions of Jews and what difference did it make if it were 1 million or 6 million it was still wrong...not to mention the 300+ thousand of our own lads including my great uncle in the Ardennes just a week after he hit Europe at 20 years of age. They were nuts claiming Iceland is the lost tribe of Benjamen and gobbledegook like that. They told me they would kill me first when the great war began since i should know better. I told em I'd be waiting.

I knew when OKC was bombed in was Christian Identity hit immediately. The date, the location. I didn't need a weatherman. Those guys are serious but there are so few of them fortunately.

I think reverse-racsim/hostility is a bigger problem today myself. Most whites folks these days are only racists in private...lol

I'm old. I cannot grasp specifics anymore.

Generalizations are mostly true most of the time ..that is why they are called generalizations.

But they are also called generalizations because there are exceptions ....otherwise they would be exclusive statements of fact....which they are not.

Pushy in a good way and I was referring to being front and center in school. It's not only asian parents that have an interest in their kids' education though. I wish people would realize that.

Coulter is quick on her feet but shrill....nice legs though.

Laura Ingram is a better debater.

I like Michelle....she is mommy too unlike Laura and Ann.

I like Mommys. I think women look their best as young mothers.

You're not old *lol* I understand about generalizations but I disagree. People hold a lot of 'generalizations' that aren't based in facts.
