You missed one, the swift vote vet guy got hammered for his postings here.
"The other thing to be aware of is that those types of folks should always post from home.
"If they post from any type of office environment there are IT people who can see what sites they are visiting and what they are posting."
Amen!
IMHO, if you are giving your honest opinion on the issue, why hide behind a "screen name". It has always been my personal policy not to post anything that I don't want EVERYONE to read, even those that disagree with me. I have ALWAYS used my real name in postings, and I don't hesitate to tackle the "controversial" stuff. I say what I mean, mean what I say, and I'm not afraid to tell the world that I said it. I live and work in a BLUE city/county, and almost everyone I work with knows that I have opinions, MOST of my co-workers, including SUPERIORS disagree with me on many issues, but we respect each others opinions, and I have never been told to "join my party or be fired". And yes I do work for an elected Sheriff who is a Democrat, and a State Attorney who is also a Democrat.
Just my 2cents worth on the subject.

You should hear me with a partner. :^)
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
Just exactly where is Large, anyway?
Fine I'm Ari Fliescher.
Long rumored, but completely untrue. I flat out asked somebody in the know that I trust. It's not true.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Rhode Island ping list.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I am thinking of picking a date and not posting with or two anybody who joined after that.......LOL.
Good suggestions. I have trusted just one or two freepers with my true identity. One time, I wrote a humorous poem and posted it here, and about a week later, it came around to me via email as it was being circulated on the 'net. The desire to let my email buddies know that not only had I already seen the poem but in fact wrote it was outweighed by my desire to remain anonymous.

LEMME try this again, maybe I can get the entire thought out before I hit post and completely screw it up?
Hi beltfed308, Hi Arrowhead1952.

I will have some coffee now that I COMPLETELY screwed up what I was doing.
(I don't multitask too well!)
He's crashed & burnt...flung a belt...popped a tube. He's toasted by the ZOT!
1. Avoid the temptation to go on a new or old Blog site, when you are solicited.
2. Avoid signing petitions that have few signatures.
I constantly get freepmails from relatively new freepers asking me to participate in a new or old blog site. The same goes for signing petitions. If you visit either type of site, you leave a bread crumb trail back to you. The only such site I have visited in a long time was the Swift Vets site, and that site protected our identity the same as Jim and John do.
laz.. I haven't read all the way to the end, and it has been referred to, and often the obvious escapes us, but...
how about including something along the lines of: "Refrain from including anything in your profile that could be used to ID you individually"?
Yep, don't expose your name, direct location, bank account numbers, social security number, drivers license number.
Don't give the EXACT location, title, or job description.
Don't brag about your connections (if any), where you attend or whatever.
Keep it simple.

When you say be careful with the Freep mail, do you mean don't give people your private information or can our private mail get scanned off of google or something?
In any case, it's not a bad idea!
Thank you
I agree
