Incidentally, I don't know about Piggly-Wiggly, but there actually are American grocery chains in the Middle East.

The site of the first women's protest to being banned from driving (now, maybe that's not such a bad idea) in Saudi Arabia was organized and initiated in the parking lot of the Safeway store in Riyadh in the mid-70's.

It's so sad to see such a huge chunk of the world population so incredibly naive, gullible, and ignorant as to not only tolerate the broadcast of such nonsense, but actually believe it. Of course, when you control the infostructure, you control the people, period. They are just pandering their form of urban legends to the mostly uneducated local Muslim ethnic groups. We have a form of this in the US- urban minorities like Blacks think the CIA invented AIDS to decrease their population; while the truth is abortion was invented for that purpose.
