CONDI STORMS THE BASTILLE
New York Post ^ | February 9, 2005 | DEBORAH ORIN

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday challenged France to let bygones be bygones and launch "a new chapter" as she took her whirlwind charm-offensive tour to Paris, a hotbed of opposition to the U.S.-led Iraq war.

"It is time to turn away from the disagreements of the past. It is time to open a new chapter in our relationship, and a new chapter in our alliance," she urged in Paris in the biggest speech of her weeklong trip.

....

She stressed Bush's policy of seeking to spread freedom throughout the world and discreetly skipped over disagreements about Iraq to stress the success of Iraq's elections, which even Chirac has praised.

She's a better woman than I...no way, no how, would I touch that FROG!!

She was obviously not thrilled either, despite the smile. Look at her left hand clenched fist.

While the speech was impressive, her answers to questions afterwards were brilliant.

I missed it while at work. Is there a transcript?

The only thing the french will notice is her perfectly cut suit and how totally elegant she was.

"Black Woman Republican next POTUS alert, too. Who should be veep?"
I am a big "fan" of Condileezza Rice and really hope she is our candidate in 2008. However, someone asked me today
about her stand on abortion. Does anyone have any information on this?
Since she has virtually "lived" and vacationed with the Bushes for years...and they seem to be preparing her for
big things in politics, I can't believe that she would be
"pro-choice".

It would be great for her to be pro-choice.

She's a can't miss President if she is.

This will sound very amateurish at analyzing, and, I only got to see the short media clips, but my unexpected impression was that the men around her acted as if they felt in control again. They didn't have to posture, they just KNEW they had the upper hand and were comfortable. They weren't drooling over her as female, nor were they threatened physically by size, yet they were attracted by that smile and beauty, and that attraction and mystery is to me what is the keyhole that should work wonderfully to open their hearts for our beliefs. They might be more open with her, and not upset when realizing SHE really has the upper hand, because they will think it is all their decisions!
Blessings and prayers for her!

Nikos, I didn't see the speech or the questions afterward, but I did read that one of the translators did NOT translate the an entire question and she called the translator on it.

She politely said that it was not all that the reporter said, but she understood him fine and she proceeded to answer the full question. I don't know if she answered it in English or French, but she is clearly very fluent.

Hmmm, interesting analysis. Similar to mine that she is quietly powerful.

Sorry I don't know anything about Condi Rice's position on pro-life or pro-choice. I am watching her, learning more about her and am very impressed so far.

"It would be great for her to be pro-choice.

WRONG!! If she turns out to be "pro-baby killer", she will not carry all those "red states". Why do you think Hillary is "moving to the center"? She and the Demos have learned that the country is turning more and more pro-life.
Just a few years ago, they kept telling us a "pro-lifer cannot win". Times have changed drastically.

The GOP Presidents haven't been elected on their position on a woman's right to choose.

They have been elected because of their personal optimism while the country was Carterized, and another riding on his coattails....and the last one because the country wanted to take a shower after Clinton's regime gave us scandal upon scandal.

You're naive to think Roe V Wade was on the front burner of any of those campaigns.

Hillary is only trying to shed the liberal, socialist image...and I think she will fall flat.

If Condi Rice is the nominee in 08, and says she is Pro-Choice, she will win big.

1) She is an alternative to Hillary Clinton and all the dirty laundry she brings.
2) Condi would not only carry the Red States, she would syphon off almost all the African-American vote, and of course, the woman's vote.
Since she would be an extension of Bush, she would also get the white male vote.

Any questions? ;^)

"You're naive to think Roe V Wade was on the front burner of any of those campaigns."

While I normally have great respect for your opinions here, I must strongly disagree on this one.

Exit polling after this last election runs completely counter to what you say. It's also well known to those of us who explore sources outside of the MSM (as I know you do) that the majority of the country is STRONGLY for greater restrictions or outright abolition of abortion, especially when used as nothing more than after-the-fact birth control.

No, make no mistake........she is more than likely pro-life, and she SHOULD be pro-life, and she SHOULD strongly and firmly state such. That............that would help ensure her victory if she chose to run.

NOW you're talking. Oh, wait... we need a "permanent vice president" amendment. Never mind, he's looking forward to more time with the grandkids, bless him.

Cheney won't do it.

The only reason he's sticking around this time is out of his friendship and loyalty to W.

I'm afraid you are right. I heard him on FoxNewsSunday and he was pretty convincing. BUT, his country needs him!

He would provide the continuity that we need in both foreign and domestic policy, IMHO.
