America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.
The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.
"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."
The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."
That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.
Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.
Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."
2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.
I hope the GOP is paying close attention to what Rush is saying about guest worker proposals. Rush has always done a good job of accurately reporting the mood of the Republican base.
He takes a far larger percentage of angry Dems, Libs and Leftists than does Rush, which makes the show pretty lively IMHO.
Well.....let's see. These people pay $40 to see Rush and they expect him to get booed?
Lack of common sense as usual.
Roger Hedgecock is a complete obnoxious pompous unlikable idjit. I don't like that guy or his voice or his attitude at all. Rush's ratings must take a real dive when that guy is on.
Do you remember the great editorial he had last year. I can't remember what it was, but I am sure some Freepers do
>>When was the LAST time Rush asked where Hanoi Kerry's Form 180 was?<<<
That is because Kerry lost!
As Rush has said many times: "The Left hates a person who displays confidence in their convictions". {/paraphrase}
He is not. But then that is your opinion, and opinions are a dime a dozen. Or if I want to use the other phrace. You get my drift, I gather
I think you can see a lil bit of libertarian thought in their lyrics: "2112", "Something for Nothing", "Freewill", "Closer to the Heart", "A Farewell to Kings", "The Trees" (which seems to focus on the class warefare dogma of the Left), just to name a few! All of these songs seem to hint towards good, responsible government, individual liberty, etc.
Since Rush didn't serve in the military wouldn't it be hypocritical for him to call for Kerry to sign Form 180? Did Thomas Lipscom serve? I found it very hypocritical when Terry McAwful and Fatso Moore who have never served on second in the US Forces accused the president of being AWOL or a deserter.
Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll!!
T'was a fun event for us here in San Jose.
Rush faithfully reminds Bush that he is missing the point on illegal immigrants. Hopefully the message will get through sooner rather than later!
I saw him several years ago at "Dan's Bake Sale" in Ft. Collins. We sold bumper stickers at the event (and sold out). It was a huge event for Colorado, and it was great to see him!
Rush is right...if the Republican's don't get off their butt and do something of substance about illegal immigration they will hand the white house to Hill and Bill!!!
..hopefully we'll get a chance to hear a recording of the event. Rush's support and contributions to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are to be applauded..we will all benefit from their research.
Good move, Rush. Now maybe Hannity will see the error of his ways and get his head out of Arnold's liberal butthole!
