Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

I just want him back on the show. The difference between him and his guest hosts messes up the show. I tune into his hour to listen to energetic humor and discussion. His guest hosts all act like drones compared to him.

I've just gotten to this thread today as I was away from the computer yesterday.

Frankly I am sickened at how you people have treated Tonk on this thread. In all your smarmy bickering you have completely lost sight of who the REAL criminal is. Funny how you all jumped on the anti-Kerry bandwagon before the election, but now all you want to do is pick a fight with Tonk, someone who has EVERY RIGHT to stick to his fight against Kerry.

I'm truly and literally sickened and disappointed by this. You all should be ashamed.

Why?

Tonk made allegations against Limbaugh that weren't true and we posted examples that proved it. He then proceeded to move the goalposts "OK, but what did he say about 'x'?"

Let's not forget that this was NOT IN ANY WAY a Kerry thread. It was supposed to be a lighthearted discussion of Rush in CA this week. We weren't the ones that pissed on an innocent thread.

If there are valid criticisms of Limbaugh let's hear them on the appropriate thread, otherwise he crapped on an perfectly innocent discussion.

You've certainly thrown your weight around a little too much lately.

And I'm not sure what he thinks gives him "weight".

You didn't address the points in my post. He LIED about Limbaugh (after hijacking an innocent thread) and was called on it. Instead of moving on, he continued to make baseless allegations against him, and we continued to call him on it.

Moreover, he NEVER answered the main question; why would it matter what Rush demanded of Kerry when he was confronted with the form 180 question by Tim Russert and it did no good?

I guess I just think you all were being extremely harsh on him.

He served our country honorably, and I don't think he should be spoken to in that manner.

The "goal posts" from my 1st post

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1339524/posts?page=9#9

"Rush won't even ask him, in 2005,
when he will sign Form 180.

Or why Hanoi Kerry is still in the US Senate.

Or when Hanoi Kerry will set the record straight
on his false testimony in April 71"

Please provide proof that these questions
where actually addressed on Rush's show.

The actual links.

PS Why don't you re-post your pic from post 203

I DID NOT have it removed.

"Moreover, he NEVER answered the main question; why would it matter what Rush demanded of Kerry when he was confronted with the form 180 question by Tim Russert and it did no good?"

Did Michael Moore ever speak with President Bush?

Did Kerry actually speak with Rumsfeld when he started his petition to get rid of Rumsfeld?

Why would Rush have to listen to or talk to Kerry?

I guess I just think you all were being extremely harsh on him.

It was he who was being harsh. He had no business attacking Limbaugh on this thread.

Unless you can tell me what he was getting at, because I still can't figure it out.

He served our country honorably, and I don't think he should be spoken to in that manner.

I'm not sure I understand what that has to do with it. If he makes a statement that is incorrect, there is no reason whatsoever not to correct it.

I know of at least a dozen FReepers who have served, some in combat, who have NEVER, EVER mentioned it. They don't see it as relevant to the discussion. As it shouldn't be. The past does not exempt someone from criticism.

But I appreciate your civil tone. Thanks for letting me explain.

Some of the words were harsh, but I guess that happens a lot on FR and I should toughen up.

My father was a Viet Nam veteran. When he returned from the war, he was spit on.

So this kind of thing touches a nerve with me. I feel that the vets are taken for granted.

I just noticed your sign on date. Don't worry, it happens automatically.

Well, at least for MOST of us. ;-)

So this kind of thing touches a nerve with me. I feel that the vets are taken for granted.

Most of them are, some scream for marginalization.
