Jon Jazdzewski made a valuable discovery while driving out of town for business.
Jazdzewski, 52, an employee of Wausau Supply, was leaving town around 4 a.m. on Jan. 28 when he spotted something on the road near the Rothschild Village Hall.
``I knew it was a money bag, and I picked it up. But there was no doubt in my mind that this thing was going back to (the village),'' said Jazdzewski, of Kronenwetter.

"i would have kept the money...and put it towards anti-liberal commericals on Fox." You should donate it to FR. Think of all we could accomplish. Jim Robinson for President!

I hate it when I forget my Dunkin' coffee on the roof of the car, only to see the coffee stream down the windows as I drive away...

Cool! I'm gonna go out and look on my road. Maybe the Money Fairies left me a bag-o-cash, too!
(If you don't hear from me later in the day, it's because I got run over, LOL!)

Perhaps, but if a deputy was taking the money to the bank, then it's probably money that belongs to the city or county, don't you think?
I've found and returned money a couple of times in my life, and have never accepted the rewards offered. It wasn't my money in the first place, so why should I expect payment for returning it?

When you find this kind of cash in the road, it's probably drug money. By not reporting it, you not only get to keep the cash, but you keep your damn name out of the papers.

That said, there were checks in the bag too, which is less indicative of illegal activity.

Does anyone remember a case a few years ago where a couple found a large amount of money and turned it in. The legal period lapsed for the rightful owner to reclaim it, so the couple wanted to claim it. But law enforcement said it was drug money simply because it was a huge sum and nobody claimed it under the government pretense that if you find a dollar in the street, it's ours.
They went to court, does anyone remember how it ended up?

A police officer had set the bag on the trunk of a squad car and then was called to an emergency, Jazdzewski said. The bag apparently slid off the back of the car when the officer pulled away. What was a cop doing with that kind of cash?
He deserved to lose it if he's that dumb.
