I wonder if the lawyer sent a bill for his phone time to the boy.

You really don't get the full impact of how much of a jerk this guy is until you read the whole story. He's basically being such a jerk about it because he doesn't like how he was treated by the kid's father. So he's gonna punish a little kid, for something the kid's father did.

Like I said, a real jerk.

I did something really bad.

I sent a copy of the column to PETA.

I think refusing to return an animal to its rightful owner and the only home it has known is unethical.

"I'll bet he's waiting for the family to post a reward poster and then claim the reward and charge the family for shipping the dog, claiming reimbursement for any other expenses and all other "associated" costs that lawyers like to charge. Even down to the paperclip and staple"

My staff also moonlight running the local animal shelter. Oddly, they are siding with the lawyer. They say that Florida will Euthanize any abandoned animal almost immediately, sometimes the moment the animal is picked up.

"What's next, a child who's lost his parents running around some mall saying he used to live in some other state "being claimed" by some AH?

I don't think so. If you find a dog, then bring it to a shelter and tell them you want it if no one claims it. These people were clearly searching high and low for it and to have a "professional" attorney behave as such, well, it doesn't surprise me. Most of the lawyers that I know or have known are AHs."

I agree, he should have taken the dog to a shelter, and if not claimed in a period of time, claim the dog.

"Next case."

Consorting with PETA? It's worth a shot, although I don't think they'll care as long as nobody makes a coat out of the pooch.

It would be money better spent neutering lawyers rather than dogs.

According to some of their websites, it doesn't appear to be the case.

http://www.seminolecountyfl.gov/dps/ansrvs/foundpets.asp

It looks like most counties will hold the animal and eventually try to place them for adoption, and judging from the description of this dog, it would have placed very quickly.

Cheers!

I'm just a real mush when it comes to a pet.

A couple of years ago, one of my dogs died. Within 10 days, I had moved into a new home, and I came home and found the back door wide open. My other dog was gone. It was just starting the really cold season. I looked off and on all night for him all over town. I drove the major roads finally just to see if I could find even a carcass because he's not street smart. I had given him a bath the night before and had washed his collar, so he didn't have it on. There was no way for anyone to identify him. It was agonizing.

In the morning, I called my vets. They called the pound. The pound called me and said they had received a call from a family who had found a Boston Terrier the night before and had taken him in. I had him back by 10 am. I can't imagine knowing that someone had my dog and they wouldn't return it.

Bloody Hell. You're probably right. Money is all some bloodsucking lawyers seem to recognize, respect and worship

I'll kick in and donate money towards shipping this poor kid his dog back, if that's what it takes.

What an asshat. I'll bet he's a Dem.

Thanks for the e-mail addy. Just sent the following:
"Really, sir, have you no compassion for a child bereft
of his pet? Would you really keep the child and dog
separated because you are "not in the mood" to ask a
nun for any favors? You are not a dog rescuer, you are
a child torturer."

Glad you got your dog back. I adopted a 6 year old Husky last summer from the pound. He had been there a month and was very thin. He's great now, but I do wonder about how he got there and why no one claimed him.

Why don't they split the dog right up the middle?

You would think this to be true, but during the hurricanes last year there were allot of lost dogs...and many were put to sleep in the field.

I'm just the messenger here...

Still, no excuse in my opinion for taking the dog home with him...in fact the more I think about this, and after seeing his photo...God, I bet he had no idea that this would be come big news.

What a way to get your fifteen minutes of fame.
