They should be happy this year so far with Daytona testing anyway.

Here's what Jr said last year during the race.

RADIO CHATTER: During the 10-minute break following the first 20-lap segment:
Dale Jr: "I'm outta control... this car is outta control. It's like there's no air on the car... I don't know what to tell ya- don't know what to expect with this car. It has no grip at all - sometimes I lose the front and sometimes the back. If somebody runs really tight on my right rear it's really bad. I don't like what we got here - I don't like the aero..."

Dale Jr. (as the entire field swerved to avoid safety trucks on the circuit during the slowdown lap): "Whoa. Is this where we do the 40-yard dash through the archery range?!"

Dale Jr. was unhappy with some of the maneuvers of his fellow drivers during the opening 20-lap segment:
"Damn, that's OK to drive that way goin’ for the win, but I don't know about that during a 20-lap segment. Some (idiot) holds you down low with only a foot or so to the apron... I'm gonna start knockin' some doors off here if they don't give me some room. When a car is on me like that, it's like I'm driving a sprint car through the tri-oval... I'm loose and hangin' on."

And a Federated Auto Parts on the beak.

The package made it to the local UPS depot early this morning (wonder if they'll have the brains to realize that I'm only spitting distance from there and ship it out a day early).

Re UPS:
They told me I don't have a REAL address.
RR (something) Box (whatever) is a PO Box to them.
I finally convinced them of the error of their ways. }:^)

Labonte, New Crew Chief Addington, Looking for Big Things in '05

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 – The No. 18 Interstate Batteries car has been a fixture on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup circuit for 13 years – and the records are impressive: one championship (2000), one Daytona 500 win (1993), one Brickyard 400 win (2000), 23 victories and 26 poles. Bobby Labonte has been the driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries car for 10 of those years and drove to the 2000 championship, the Brickyard 400 win, 21 of the 23 victories and all 26 poles. In 2004, he looks to add to the winning tradition of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries car, and he’ll be doing it with new crew chief Steve Addington, who will serve as only the fourth crew chief in the illustrious history of the Interstate Batteries Racing team. “Steve and I have had great communication throughout our first few tests of 2005,” Labonte said. “He worked in the Joe Gibbs Racing organization last year, in the Busch Series with Mike Bliss, so he’s familiar with the team.” After spending several years as a successful crew chief in the Busch Series, Addington will make his first attempt at NEXTEL Cup racing in 2005. “I’m looking forward to the season,” Addington said. “I think we’ve had good communication the first few tests and our goal is to provide good quality cars to Bobby so he can compete in the way we all know he can compete. He’s a great driver, and we’re going to do everything we can to get the Interstate Batteries car in championship contention again.” Labonte suffered a disappointing 2004 season, going winless for the first time in eight years and finishing 12th in points while using two different crew chiefs throughout the year, Michael “Fatback” McSwain and Brandon Thomas. “Obviously last year was a unique situation for our race team to make a change in the middle of the year,” Labonte said. “That was the biggest thing that happened to us. If we don't do that again we'll be better off and that's what we plan on not doing. We also have to know we have to be more competitive. We have to finish races better than we have been and than we did last year to be in the top 10 in points. We know we have to improve on things. We worked on that in the off-season. A lot of that is communication between Steve and me and between Steve and guys that work on the race car so that we can understand each other.” The road back to glory for the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet begins Feb. 20 with the 47th Daytona 500 at historic Daytona International Speedway.

Unfortunately Ward Burton does not have a ride this season

That's disappointing. Won't seem the same without him and his wonderful accent. He will be missed.

That said, I am looking forward to another year of GOOD RACING!!!
