Reports: McNabb Sick During Crucial Part Of Super Bowl
AP ^ | February 8, 2005

Posted on 02/08/2005 11:49:37 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was so ill in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl that a teammate had to call a play in the huddle, center Hank Fraley said.

"He fought to the end," Fraley told Comcast SportsNet on Monday. "He gave it his all. He was almost puking in the huddle. One play had to be called by (wideout) Freddie Mitchell because Donovan was mumbling because he was almost puking."

Offensive lineman Jon Runyan also echoed Fraley's comments in the same interview aired on two local radio stations on Tuesday after the Comcast report.

McNabb was shaky in Philadelphia's 24-21 loss to the England Patriots on Sunday, throwing for 357 yards and three touchdowns, was also getting picked off three times.

McNabb misfired on several passes early, held the ball too long in other instances and made several poor decisions. One of the best scramblers in the NFL, McNabb had zero yards rushing on just one carry and was sacked four times.

An Eagles spokesman did not immediately return a phone call Tuesday.

Reports are that McNabb WAS puking in the huddle, but not full-fledged vomit - - just like baby spit. Anyways, Freddie Mitchell is coming on the local sports radio show soon and I'll post what he says.

That's bull. I quess you'd have a quarter-back with a compound leg fracture -- the fractured bone sticking out of his ripped through uniform leg -- continue to play. No matter how strong -- a person just can't operate any more at some level of sickness or injury.

3 touchdowns and 357 yards in the SuperBowl?!? WTF, guys! That's a great game and just shows that the Eagles are a very good team and the Patriots are an even better team.

Misleading stats. 3 interceptions, 2 in the red zone. completed 30 of 51, less than 60%. Threw a lot of balls way off target, either knuckle balls behind the receivers or at their feet, or 10 feet over their heads. And on top of the poor clock management (blame that on Andy Reid, not McNabb), they were throwing the ball to the middle of the field for short gains and the clock kept running instead of working the sidelines where you can stop the clock by getting out of bounds. Maybe that's Andy Reid's fault too, but I would think McNabb could decide to throw to the receivers toward the sidelines. MY TAKE: He was hot and cold. Made some great throws but too many really bad ones. He showed flashes of brilliance but did not play with championship form or poise.

I was sick. The dog ate my playbook. Guys were talking in the huddle. The linebackers were making faces at me. The battery died on the two minute drill.

I think you mean "delusion" and I think you're delusional. In other words, go away quickly, and don't come back.

If you're here for political argument, find another thread. I don't see "Bush" or "WMD" in the title of this one.

No excuses!!!...McNabb is no QB...he's a TE playing QB....but then again...maybe he can't catch a football...he can barely throw one with any accuracy!!!

I think you meant to say the excuses Bush used to describe his dillusion that there were in fact WMD in Iraq.
Normally, I overlook spelling errors BUT you're a DELUSIONAL dickhead, so I won't.

"Another excuse, like last year and his rib injury."

Aah, yes.

At this time of year, nearly EVERYONE is sucking it up and playing hurt. They just don't whine to the press about it afterwards.

Don't expect a break from the Eagles haters here on FR. These folks get downright nasty from time to time. Some alot worse than others and I'm speaking from experience.

The Eagles are in a good spot to make it back. They had a real chance of beating the Pats, but made the mistakes the Pats didn't. Two picks in Pats territory were worth at least six points. They got there, they played tough, and I'm not ashamed to admit that they proved alot of folks wrong about how bad they are.

Cheers!

See ya next year Eagles!

The Rush-inspired hatred of McNabb on FR is ridiculous--like they have to defend Limbaugh just because. He was a jackass for needlessly injecting race into the debate. I'll say it a thousand times: McNabb was used as media darling by the NFL because he was a flashy player with a spotless off-the-field record and a nice personality.

The thought of losing was nauseating. Nice excuse, though.

I think you meant to say the excuses Bush used to describe his dillusion that there were in fact WMD in Iraq.

Why do I get the feeling that if Iraq was a country of caucasians and Saddam was a Nazi, you'd be one of those jerks who would be out screaming:

"Where are those WMD? Why hasn't Bush found them yet? You know they haven't just disappeared off the face of the earth! Have we learned nothing from the holocaust gas chambers? This proves Bush is a white supremacist!"

But since Saddam and the people of Iraq are not white supremacists, then the standards change even when the facts on the ground don't.
