The Rush-inspired hatred of McNabb on FR is ridiculous--like they have to defend Limbaugh just because. He was a jackass for needlessly injecting race into the debate. I'll say it a thousand times: McNabb was used as media darling by the NFL because he was a flashy player with a spotless off-the-field record and a nice personality.

That begs the question, what about Culpepper and McNair? Did I miss some dirt on these guys? Small markets?

You're nuts. Rush didn't inject race into anything. The NFL pundits did. They've been hyping McNabb's race more than his skills, looking for the next coming of Doug Williams. And when you hype race over skills, this kind of stuff bites you in the butt.

He (Limbaugh) was a jackass for needlessly injecting race into the debate.

But it's fine when McBadd inserts race.

I agree with all this, but I still think Rush had a bit of a point that the media are softer on black QB's and black coaches than on whites. Here in Seattle, the media were all over Holmgren for having several mediocre years, but they were much softer on the Sonics' Nate McMillan, whose teams - until this year - showed similar mediocrity and lack of progress.

I root against McNabb because he's an Eagle. I felt the same way about Reggie White when he was an Eagle. If McNabb moved to a different team, I might root for him. I'm glad White got his ring. If McNabb moved to say, the Cowboys, I'd be rooting for him all the way.
