Perish the thought of Hilda Beast becoming Prez.

The media insiders were saying that Hillary and Bill really wanted to prevent Dean from taking over the DNC. But they backed off when it was clear they could not defeat him.

It is quite interesting that the working class labor unions.. the auto workers and AFL did not get in the fight. Yet by allowing Howard Dean to take control, the interests of auto and construction workers will not be a priority of the Democratic party. Perhaps the Unions decided to follow the rule of never get in a fight you can't win.

So Hillary's problem is how to get the nomination. The Democratic primary voter is far to the left of the rest of the nations voters. In 2000 and even more in 2004 the Democratic primary turn out was small and very leftist.

If one has to be a far leftist to win the primaries, then one is too far left to win the general election.

But the danger in the strategy I proposed for Hillary, is if she takes the party back from the far left, the far left may sit on its hands or go vote for a Nader type candidate to teach Hillary a lesson.

Hillary has a very very hard task in store. She has to keep the left happy, while appealing to the center and a bit of the right.

The issues are killers. A republican can oppose abortion and gay rights and get 52 or 53 percent of the population to agree. If a Democrat supports abortion he or she can only get 47 percent of the votes. If a Democrat opposes abortion he or she will be stuck with 10 or 15 percent of the votes. The same is true on Gay rights and gun control.

The war on terrorism is the same type issue for democrats.

Democrats dare not take a position on the major issues of the day. That is why they only attack President Bush.

Republicans only need take their parties position on the major issues of the day.

For democrats to win they need a peaceful world and a bad economy. If the only issue in the campaign is the economy, then the Democrats win. If the economy is bad in 2008, a very unlikely circumstance, then Hillary can win the election. The problem is she could not win the primary.

For going on 20 years, the Republicans have done very well in state and local races. That gives the Republicans a good farm system. We have lots of local people getting elected. That gives us a good pool of tested winning candidates to run for governorships and federal house and senate seats. And from that pool comes our presidential candidates.

The Democrats are not winning lots of local elections in the states. That means they have a much smaller farm system that is not producing nearly enough experienced winning candidates.

When we think about what are our vulnerabilities we can see reason to be alarmed. But when we try to play the Democrats cards as if we were Democrats we get a true picture of the terrible situation the Democrats, including Hillary, face.

I've been hearing reports of how Hilda Beast is already swinging and swaying in the political wind!
