What's The Connection?
Whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, . . . meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8
The image on the TV screen captures our attention and we sit down to watch. As we flip from channel to channel, is there any connection between what we decide to watch and what is in our heart? Does our faith in Christ have anything at all to do with our TV choices?
In a world of falling standards, we must think through this question: How does our relationship with Christ affect our TV viewing habits?
One secular writer speaking about today's television programs said, "The notion of indecency has become obsolete." He is suggesting that a standard has been pushed aside. What is that standard? I believe it's the moral standard found in biblical teaching.
Most TV productions are not governed by the guidelines God wants us to follow. The Bible tells us, "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things" (Philippians 4:8). It's hard to do that when we're being bombarded by the ungodly images presented on television.
Let's ask God to help us make godly choices in what we watch on TV. Dave Branon
Sow a thought, and you reap an act;
Sow an act, and you reap a habit;
Sow a habit, and you reap a character;
Sow a character, and you reap a destiny. Anon.
Character is formed by making choices in one direction.

Hello, MoJo!
So many places to go, so little time.
I promise to check out each link soon, in the evening, in the early spring, when daffodils bloom and robins sing, sweet tunes of the earth and sky...

Great Thread.
My favorite: Independence Day
Because:
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs was a Marine, Will Smith, the first hero, was a Marine, the fighters were Marine Corps F/A-18s out of Marine Corps Air Base El Toro, and the other hero, Jeff Goldblum, was an MIT Ph.D.
The aliens were all ugly and communist.
It was my view of the world.

The mini-series: "V" This one was about the reptilian "benefactors" who were stealing the Earth's water, vacuum sealing humans and, through one, impregnating a young woman. Fortunately the human/alien child saved the day and the evil Diane had to go back eating mice rather than humans. This one also featured an endearing half-witted alien (Willie) who was played by the actor who did Freddie Kruger.

Favorite Sci-Fi movie: Close Encounters of the Third Kind...
We can't wait to see Spielberg's War of the Worlds, coming out this summer. Just watched the old War of the Worlds and it was just as scary as when I saw it years ago.
