Marines Help Mark Reopening of Fallujah Schools
Members of the 4th Civil Affairs Group greeted approximately 70 students at the Al Jumariyah School and the Abu Jafr Mansoor School with boxes of pencils, paper, crayons and books.

FALLUJAH, Iraq, Feb. 7, 2005 — U.S. Marines from the 4th Civil Affairs Group of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force marked the reopening of schools Feb. 5 in Fallujah by delivering school supplies to children, who returned to class for the first time since Operation Al Fajr was launched to liberate the city from insurgents last November, according to 1st Marine Expeditionary Force officials.
Members of the 4th Civil Affairs Group greeted approximately 70 students at the Al Jumariyah School and the Abu Jafr Mansoor School near the Old Bridge with boxes of pencils, paper, crayons and books.
r other schools reopened by the Ministry of Education included Ibn Khaldoun Secondary School for Boys, Tabarek Intermediate School in the Al Mualameen Quarter, Islamic Studies Secondary School, and That al Salalsel.
The director of the Ministry of Education reported that roughly 10% of all students reported to school yesterday. He explained that more would return throughout the week after residents received information regarding the school openings.
