I was off shore in Viet Nam, Christmas 1968
If you recall Johnson ended Rolling Thunder on Oct 31 1968
All US Ships went south, EXCEPT us.
We remained on station, within RPG range off the coast of North Viet Nam.
DD's can get REAL close to the shore, depending on the charts.
Oh, I didn't see Hanoi Kerry up here.

Actually it is Christmas 1968 when Kerry was in Vietnam. I was already home by then, having left in November 1968 and having spent just two weeks shy of one year in country.
