CSI Las Vegas (George W. Bush morality tales) ? I watch CSI Las Vegas on occasion, but I have never thought of the T.V. series as being a George W. Bush morality tale. This article from Stephen Cole who writes about television for CBC.ca. seems to think it does. He may have a point. jimmyk http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/thedeadzone.html The Dead Zone Why CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is Hollywood's perfect Bush-era export. By Stephen Colevia cbc excerpt from my blog: jimmyk http://butthatsjustmyopinion.blogspot.com/
The success of CSI specifically is more than a simple case of right show, right time, however. For one thing, no American city photographs better after dark than Las Vegas. More important still, with its canny blend of conservative moralizing and tabloid dramatics, the series seemed to anticipate what would become the George W. Bush era.....
I found it interesting and funny, jimmyk

Good grief! LOL
too much time on someone's hands? =o)
As opposed to the more dignified liberal immoralizing and network dramatics...
Denny Crane: "There are two places to find the truth. First God and then Fox News."
It's a mystery with computers/technology set in a vacation destination that millions have visited. The supporting cast is vastly more talented than the featured actors, and the guy with the beard took acting lessons from William Shatner.

Manhunter was a Michael Mann movie, right?
I have a hard time watching any of the CSI shows...for one thing, the ME's office looks like a Santa Monica ad agency. However, the few that I have seen have impressed me for the supporting cast. Great performances by unknowns.

Probably just me -- I have a difficult time watching television these days.
I am still waiting for the much vaunted balkenizing of TV programing. Entertainment TV seems to push further and further leftward.
I suspect that you're mistaking leftward for moronic. Often the same. Most of the shows I watch on tv are insulting. I don't have cable, so I'm probably missing the "hot" shows. I'll survive without them.
recently discovered that http://www.pentagonchannel.mil does live streaming of the pentagon channel (ala http://www.c-span.org )
Obviously biased in favor of our military, but at least it is not CNN'd.
I don't have a high speed line, either.
What is fascinating is that we have all this technology, cable TV, satellite TV, streaming videos, plasma screens, high definition TV, etc. etc. available. Billions of dollars of the stuff sold. Billions of dollars spent in designing it. Millions of man hours spent putting it in the local Circuit City. But the stuff that they choose to relay over it is just pure crap.
I HATE CSI Miami, only because I once lived in said city and hate the fact that they film the show in Los Angeles. Note to Producers: THERE ARE NO HILLS/MOUNTAINS IN MIAMI, with the exceptions of Mount Trashmore on the Turnpike Extension.
Who the F-CK is Denny Crane?
I haven't seen CSI NY. On what night is it aired? I just love Gary Sinise, so I'm sure I'd love the show.
I was going to ask, but I figured it was personal.
Petersen is what makes CSI such an absorbing show. Most else is incidental.
