Howdy fellow Freepers:
I am working on a tribute of my Father for my Mother -- to celebrate my Fathers life.
I have gone to the West Point website, to ask for help and have received several e-mails from those who knew my father or bunked with my dad.
I should have done this long ago, but, no matter the years my heart sank at the loss of my dad. I suppose it is true, a daughter is a daughter all of her life, a son is a son until he takes on a wife.
I was an only child and perhaps that also cemented the bond. Recently my mother sent me wonderful items of my childhood along with items of my father's days at West Point. Frankly there are a few items I would like to know a bit more about.
I plan on giving this to my Mother, February 19, 2005. My father passed on February 19, 1987, thus the reason behind that choice of day. I hope Ms Manners will be OK with that.
I would like to learn more about the traditions. As I said I have received several notes and while I knew it might be tough, it has brought me to tears.
So, if anyone attended West Point, new of a friends who attended West Point I would love to hear from you.
If it is OK, once the tribute is done I would like to share it on Free Republic.
Thank you,
Chele
Prayers go with you. Sorry can't help in any other way.

I will BUMP this for you, FMC.
You have frmail.
You're a good daughter.
Bump to that!
Thank you for the prayers. I did not know how difficult this road might be. I miss him so much. U cab only imagine the emptiness in my Mother's heart through the year.
But, I must admit the replies I have received have been heartwarming.
Your prayers mean the world!
They have a reasearch library up on the fort that I've found useful from time to time.
Thank you for your comment. I was uncertain if this was something we should post on FR.
The comments have washed away those concerns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
