Biden: Consider Iran's 'emotional needs'
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/5/2005

Posted on 02/05/2005 10:46:27 AM PST by Dan Evans

As Tehran raise fears with its increasing nuclear capability, the world must address Iran's emotional needs and agree to a nonagression pact, says Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.

Biden was cited by Boston Globe columnist H.D.S. Greenway, who wrote that President Bush's rhetoric about freedom and specific references to Iran is making people wonder if Tehran will be the next target, after Iraq.

Greenway wrote yesterday: "Senator Joseph Biden said that even if Iran was a full democracy like India, it would want nuclear capability, like India. What the world needed to address was Iran's emotional needs, he said, with a nonaggression pact."

The columnist added that the U.S. and Europe might not succeed in preventing an Iranian nuclear bomb "unless they are willing to address Iran's nightmares and guarantee its safety. But that runs contrary to the reigning theology in Washington that divides the world into good and evil, and believes in the benefits of using force."

Biden engaged in a rare public exchange with an Iranian official Jan. 28 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The senator is at odds with administration officials who believe the way to handle Tehran's suspected nuclear weapons program and support for terrorism is through isolation.

After expressing concern about Tehran's nuclear intentions, the senator told Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi he also is urging his own government to rethink its positions.

"You have to grow up and my administration has to grow up, with all due respect, and find out if there is any common ground," Biden said. "We are on the course of unintended consequences."

Biden criticized Bush's unwillingness to rule out an armed response.

"I hope we're all smarter about this, smarter than we've been," he said. "I hope our leadership is brighter because if it's not, it's a very dull picture for the region, and for humanity."

Just in case you missed this from yesterday:

"At a dinner designed to promote dialogue between Iran and United States during last week’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, one thing was noticeably absent — the guest speaker, Democrat Delaware Senator Joe Biden. Organizers repeatedly said he was on the way, but guests including Iran’s prime minister and vice president were left waiting for an hour and 20 minutes.

"What’s more, the Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi threatened to leave and take his delegation with him, after organizers served wine, which is forbidden in Islam. Waiters removed all the wine glasses. But then they had to come back to remove the menus, which featured meat that violated Islamic law. Biden, for the record, says he was late because he went to the wrong place."

Agreed, Biden is so stupid that he plagarised Neil Kinnock, of all people.

Europe wants to pay tribute to the mullah thugs that hold Iran hostage from its own people. Biden wants to give them a big hug, a pat on the ass, and tell them their self-esteem matters to us. When will Democrats learn, "it's the security of this nation, stupid"?

I was under the impression that the executive branch (i.e., the president, state department, etc..) handled diplomacy and foreign affairs and that congress merely provided funds and oversight. Silly me, reading that darn outdated United States Constitution, and forgetting that it is a "living and breathing" document that "changes, grows and adapts" as the situation calls for it. No wonder Biden, Kerry, Boxer, Kennedy, Pelosi, Kucinich, and their ilk feel no constraints in what they do or say, they don't have to abide by the constitution....

Britain and France addressed Hitler's emotional needs about the poor put-upon Germans in the Sudetenland at the Munich Conference in 1938. Biden is a complete fool and ought to keep his mouth shut. For Biden speech isn't silver but silence is definitely golden.

I wonder if Biden asked Iran to consider the emotional needs of Salmon Rushdie, who is at risk of getting whacked by some crazed Islamic fanatic?

Someone keep reminding us that these silly SOBs lost the last three elections for spouting these irrational resolutions to the world's problems.

Channel surfing during the campaign we saw Biden being interviewed, I believe by Charlie Rose, and he repeated the Kerry claims to have been meeting with European leaders who wanted President Bush out of office.

He further stated that he had met with Chriac, by name, and discussed getting boots on the ground in Iraq. There has been no follow up by anyone on this. Could his empathy for the Iranians also be connected to contacts with Chirac?

Biden is one of those greasy sleazy pols who remind one of the stereotypical used car salesman. (Comment not intended to denigrate used car salesmen)

I'm pretty sure that honor is reserved for the Mom in Tennis Shoes, our very own Patty Murray.

The thing is that most of the stupid Senators (Murray, Chafee, Jeffords) know they're stupid. Occasionally, they speak out but usually they keep their mouths shut. But Boxer (one of the stupid caucus) is now shooting her mouth off.

Biden's sin is that he thinks he's a foreign policy genius.

Biden is, without doubt, one of the dumbest congressmen ever to serve in that blasted place.

"But then they had to come back to remove the menus, which featured meat that violated Islamic law."

Remember, Joe, you fool, that lying to infidels is encouraged by Islamic law ... so much for your blockhead idea of signing a nonagression pact.

I've noticed, several times -- Biden commenting about OTHER people being ignorant, low level or uninformed....

Biden's constant attempt to infer that he is either brighter, more senior or in the know ----- has convinced me that he RECOGNIZES his own insufficiency in the "intellect" department...

In other words...Biden is a self delusional DUMB ASS.

After hearing his comment to Dr. Rice -- stating the Sec.of Defense Rumsfield "didn't know what the hell is was doing" ---- Biden showed his arrogant stupid ass to the world...

In a dueling society, Biden wouldn't have lived long enough to have lost his hair...
