I don't understand why the onus here is placed on the cops. They had probable cause to bust the guy. It's the prosecuting attorneys and the judge who then took the ball and ran with it.

And there are laws against lying to the cops on things like this and the guy could sue for civil damages.

I think the cop bashers aren't taking in the whole situation. Lady shows up with injuries and a story. She acts funny so they say, "We don't belive you, sorry." Then she shows up dead. And the cop bashers can rant some more about how awful the cops are.

Pass new laws, that if a woman FALSLY accuses a innocent man of these sort of crimes, then those women who are found lying get the same sentence of time served in prison. For example : if a women falsely accuses a man of battery, rape, assault, and the man is found innocent, that women gets the same time in prison as a guilty man would of those crimes. But, we know, the feminist would protest and have a cow over these kinds of new laws and say that the rights of women are being taken away.

Both are consulting lawyers about possibly suing Faanes and law enforcement agencies for not diligently checking out her claims before arresting them. But for now they're just glad they're not in jail or prison.

I would sue every one of those incompetent scumbag detectives, along with the sheriff and his staff and the prosecutor and any other incompetent moron involved in this disgrace. Sue them individually - - make every one of them have to hire an attorney.

Bottom line: I lost all trust for local law enforcement. It started back during the "child abuse" witch hunts in the 90's, but this and a few close-and-person experiences with friends who have been railroaded by politically correct law enforcement, forever changed the way I view the Justice system and cops in general.
