A senior Marine Corps general who said it was "fun to shoot some people" should have chosen his words more carefully but will not be disciplined, military officials said yesterday.
Lt. Gen. James Mattis, who led troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, made the comments at a conference Tuesday in San Diego, Reuters news agency reports.
"Actually it's quite fun to fight 'em, you know," said Gen. Mathis, who also called it "a hoot." "It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right upfront with you, I like brawling."
"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Gen. Mattis said during a panel discussion. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a ... lot of fun to shoot them."

generals should be killers.
Straight talk
Oh my gosh, you mean they kill people in war! The horror!/liberal thought
Sounds good to me!
So his statement is cold, crass, and insensitive - we're not relying on him to be a statesman. His job is assert our country's will when diplomacy fails and bring our guys home alive. He's got my support.
That's the exact type of MAN I want protecting my country. I'd like to go to war with a MAN like that on my side!

HAHA! The peaceniks think that war is all nicey-nice. They forget that the PURPOSE of it IS to impose casualties on the enemy and destruction on their lands and tools of war. To WIN you have to IMPOSE YOUR WILL on them.
PS: Can we ship the limpd!cks to France soon?
Patton would have liked this guy...
Obviously, the word "fun" might have been better chosen.
"Exciting", "thrilling", "satisfying" would have been better.
We should never find it fun to kill someone, even a scumball that really deserves it.
But all that said, this is a molehill. It was clearly just a poor choice of words.
Check the news today for reaction from Islamofascist apologist & enabler Ibraham Hooper of CAIR. Listening to him throwing a tantrum after his table-pounding for Severe Disciplinary Action will also be "a hoot", heh heh.
Funny you should mention Patton. Check out the headline of this thread about The Today Show's horrified reaction to Gen. Mattis' statements:

I dunno....
When I think of the terrorists that strapped bombs to that Down's Syndrome Iraqi, and the bunch that did the same thing to that mentally slow 14 year old boy that the Israelis disarmed, the word "fun" doesn't seem that poorly chosen. Although satisfying would fit better.
Boy, what would the left think of William Sherman if he were around today. His bluntness would make Gen. Mattis look like the hight of discretion.
And I forgot about the bunch who hung those charred bodies from the bridge....fun really is the wrong word.
More like EXHILARATING!
I want him on that wall! I need him on that wall!

Well, we could argue all day about whether what would flunk our pathetic modern world's public-relations driven, don't-hurt-my-precious-ears test, the word "fun" or the terms you chose. But, if the General finds it fun, then he finds it fun. He should say so, and not have to worry about some little girl-man at CAIR getting his panties in a knot. Given the people he is talking about (i.e., these limpdick Taliban "men", whose impotence in life lead them to beat their women and put them in burqas), I can see why he'd find it fun.
While I respect your feeling that "We should never find it fun to kill someone, even a scumball that really deserves it," as a religious precept, I disagree with it. I think that we can, and should, find it fun (as well as "Exciting", "thrilling", and "satisfying") to be the tool through which civilization brings about justice.
