Big Baby may top hospital record

PRINEVILLE — Swaddled in a baby-blue blanket, Jacob Aaron Ryon, with a round face, squinty eyes and a slight dust of hair, looked every bit a newborn baby as he slept in his mother's arms at home. But his mom, 24-year-old Wendy Bullock, needed two arms to steady her new bundle. Jacob's feet reached the crook of her elbow and his body engulfed her embrace. Born one week and two days ago on Jan. 25 at Prineville Memorial Hospital, Jacob is already the size of a 3-month-old baby. He came into the world healthy, weighing 14 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 24 inches — almost twice as heavy as most newborns. He was delivered by Caesarean section. "I already knew he was heavy because he was down here," Bullock said as she patted her still-round belly. Still, there was a moment of revelation. "I didn't think I was that huge until my mom took a picture of me and my daughter and it was like ‘Oh my God!' " Bullock said smacking her hands against her forehead.

Mrs. Bullock was most suprised (and somewhat frightened)when her newborn son turned to her and asked, ...

"Whats for dinner mom?"

I was thinking more about the logistics of breast feeding, but I'll bet the little (sheesh) fella would just as happily go for a nice porterhouse with baked potato.

I think the largest baby on record was in China a few years back (22 lbs).

The largest baby I've seen a photo of is James Budd (if I remember the name properly) an immense 20 lb chap born in the UK. Apparently it was quite an easy pregnancy, but then the mother was quite large herself.

That's amazing. I grew up in Prineville. Back then Prineville Memorial Hospital was to be avoided at all costs. Congrats to Mrs. Bullock!

Actually the Cowboys will sign this little guy. The Prineville high school, Crook County High, is the Cowboys!

They grow lots of beef in the Prineville area. Lots of herefords and lots of black angus. Best beef in the country is grown on Black Butte Ranch.

I'd better not show this to my wife. Our last one (and I do mean last) was 12 lb. 7 oz. Delivered all natural, no C-Section and no drugs.

It caused quite a stir in the hospital. We even had cafeteria workers coming up to the room to see the huge baby. I put a sign on the door that said "See the amazing 12 1/2 pound baby, only $1.00!"

BTW, he's 5 now and pretty much normal size.

I had one 5½ pounds, and another 10lbs, 14 oz.

(I'll take giving birth to the 5½-pounder any day...)

Regards,

And he's cute, too! My baby sister had a 8lb, 9oz girl this week. Baby Emma Clare now holds the family record for highest birth weight, narrowly edging out my son, who weighed 8lb, 7oz. 14 lbs is inconceivable!

My sisters baby was 11 lb 10 oz when he was born 10 years ago. Today he is the smallest, scrawniest kid in his class.

My son weighed 11lbs. 6oz, was 24" long and I had him natural childbirth in about 2 hours. Congrats to Wendy and I hope she has cereal ready for this sweet little boy.........believe me, a bottle alone won't satisfy his hunger. *~*
