Normal Service Resumed The George Bush the nation re-elected is back.
Friday, February 4, 2005 12:01 a.m. EST
George Bush finally began his second term on Wednesday night with an address that marked the return of the Bush of the stump, the Bush who was re-elected president three months ago and whom the nation knows well. His State of the Union address underscored that he meant what he said when he ran: Efforts to move against junk lawsuits, protect marriage and reform Social Security are all on the table. America continues as a friend of liberty throughout the world. The speech was marked by an air not of insistence but of persuasion. George Bush made it clear he does not intend to cooperate with the tradition whereby second terms are all anticlimax enlivened by scandal. He will not be at the mercy of history. He means to continue doing big things. This was the plainspoken Bush of old.

Before I get irritated about that, is there a significance I am not getting?
Denny Crane: "There are two places to find the truth. First God and then Fox News."
Well, I never thought the President had left.
"Nobody asked you; MYOB!"
LOL
Yup...her windvane done swung around....
Neither did I! OTOH,Peggy left a while back.
From the movie web site:
Tagline: Little Big Man Was Either The Most Neglected Hero In History Or A Liar Of Insane Proportion!
Now, I do NOT know if that is what she is referring to, but it's weird, isn't it?
As I said in the first comment...this was the George Bush I've known all along....
...so...did someone slip Peggy a mickey, and she's just coming 'round?
I am a bit more cynical than that. I think the Maureen Dowd comparisons got to her.
Why is this in Breaking News? I have thought that a lot of people have been overreacting to Peggy Noonan disliking the president's speech, but come on.
;^)
Is PN suggesting that George W. Bush is some punk character played by Dusting Hoffman? While in the previous paragraph, she bemoans the possibilities that come with personal freedom of choice. Sorry gang. Noonan is not back. She's lost her mojo. BIG TIME.
Sounds like she figured out the direction the wind is blowing.
But,but,but....she was being so Dowdlike. LOL
I don't get it. She says GW is back and then gives him a slam. Seems that this gal is still strung out on some bad acid.
"While in the previous paragraph, she bemoans the possibilities that come with personal freedom of choice. Sorry gang. Noonan is not back. She's lost her mojo. BIG TIME"
You guys are just cut-n-pasting complaints from the last 4 Noonan-bashing threads. LOL. At least write up some new material.
Well, it wasn't, was it? So, she got that one right.
She was oh, so wrong on the inaugural speech. But she's a professional speechwriter and entitled to her opinion. Doesn't mean I have to agree with her, though.
Now, she's gone on to praise Bush's SOTU -- deservedly so. And, in this case, I agree with her.
I don't understand what the problem is. Peggy doesn't have to agree with me on every single thing for me to appreciate her work. Heck, my wife doesn't agree with me darn near every day -- but we still get along.
I liked the digs she made against Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi - although both sounded strangly familiar; like something I might have read here YESTERDAY!!!
(Hi Peggy, stop lurking and start posting. Really, we don't bite, we just bark alot!)
...I KNOW...but all the guys are upset that they can't post the pics of Catherine Zeta-Jones on a non-Dowd thread...
...life is such a b*...er, so difficult....
And may I say this is not exactly a rave review of the SOTU. Lots of rehashing with a statement that he's more like what she thought he was (which isn't much if you really read this).
Feh.
