SNIP
Immediately after the speech, CBS News polled a scientific sample of viewers who gave their answers over an Internet connection. The poll found an overwhelming majority, 80 percent, said they approved of the president's proposals. But most of those polled, 59 percent, said they didn't think he would be able to achieve his goals; 41 percent said he would achieve them.

"This might be a good time to "retire"."
To: West Coast Conservative
That leaves 20% of the country still bitter about losing the election.
Too bad.

With the party of "no" as the opposition, one understands why 59% feel he won't accomplish his goals.
But they will be proved to have been wrong.

Huh, that's kind of weird. How did they get this scientific sample? If they contacted the people over the phone, why bother with an internet connection?

Well, it doesn't agree with this online poll!

Support:
6.87% |
Oppose:

No sure. I need more information:

People are prone to pessimism. They also felt the elections wouldn't happen in Iraq at the date described, they doubted they would go off as well as they did. We have seen what happened there.
My bet is on the President.

Pretty much because that is what the MSM feeds them. I can't recall a single talkin ghead that thought the election would happen on time and go well. They wanted to put it off. Why? Because it suits their agenda of failure. No wonder Kennedy is going off the deep end.

State of the Union addresses are almost universally popular. Short of getting up there and declaring, "All hail the great lord Satan!" A president is guaranteed to recieve a positive response.
Great speech tonight.

If you are talking about all of his goals, all in his term, that will be hard.
But the process has begun to modify SS and the tax code, a national dialog... that in itself is a success. I believe these will be accomplished sooner, rather than later, now. Maybe not in the next four years, but soon and because of his making them issues, front and center.
The plan for immigration reform is yet to be seen.
As for the issue of more freedom (democracies) around the globe, this is in motion. Small gains will mean a lot.
And I think the economy will continue to grow enough to help cut the deficit more than he even claims.
Print this out and we'll see, together, in four years.

Isn't that the same % of Sunni's in Iraq. :)

"all of these ideas are on the table"...
I really do not think that there is a "proposal" to "support or oppose"
MSM poll?

I did it over the internet. Keep in mind it is a CBS poll. Not many would take one of their polls.
To: ChicagoRighty
I think he'll have some great foreign policy achievements--he's already achieved greatness there--but it seems like the Dems are more than willing to throw themselves in front of the train on all the domestic stuff(consequences be damned)--which means we'll probably win more elections---but will we get anything passed??

If they contacted the people over the phone, why bother with an internet connection? They probably recruited them over the phone, asked them to watch the State of the Union and then go online and complete the survey.
