President Bush will deliver his annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress tonight at 6 PM Pacific time. A live webcast is available here. According to CNN, quoting a top aide, "President Bush will present 'a strategy for success' in Iraq and outline details of his Social Security proposal."

Judge Michael Chertoff testified during his nomination to become Homeland Security Secretary before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

President Bush plans a late February trip to Europe to seek additional assistance from the European Union and NATO in Iraq, and to meet with leaders, including German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

There will be lots of photos tonight during and after the president's speech.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

Our President was tearing up at that, too, having to choke back tears.

I thought it was a wonderful, passionate speech. My favorite moment will be shared by many, I'm sure; when the Iraqui woman who had just voted embraced the mother of a Marine who had been killed.

I love how the President let the applause go on and on and on.

Before the speech they were commenting on the wonderful Inaug. speech, and the great event of the Iraq elections, almost saying "how could he top those events?"

But you know what? I think he did, with this speech.

*** I believe the Iraqis are going to start turning against the terrorists in large numbers***

I agree--I think the voting on Sunday was a turning point not only for Iraqis, but for the other mideastern countries, too. They're going to rise up in mass numbers to take their countries back.

Wow what a great speech, I was getting chills at times. That hug moment was incredible. I think you hit it right on the head when you said others will rise up in mass numbers to take their countries back. The President spoke directly to the people of Iran (among others) by saying that the US will stand with them if they want freedom. Fantastic, the dems must be just green with envy!

You're going to FReep, eat popcorn, and watch the SOTU all at the same time???? You're one talented woman--even I can't take multi-tasking that far!

That was the best SOTU speech I have ever witnessed. The scene with the Marine Mom and the Iraqi woman brought this old fart to tears

Did you see the President give a kiss to Lieberman.
That wasn't the first time. At least he stands with
the Prez on International issues.
