According to official historical figures obtained by Reuters the unadjusted figure of 5.037 million would put the country's unemployment at the highest level since 1933, when Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party came to power.
"We are getting towards the dimensions seen at the beginning of Hitler's regime," said Dieter Wermuth, an economist at United Financial of Japan.
"Germany is increasingly getting a lower class, which it has not had for many decades, a growing class of people who do not expect to work ever. And that is politically very dangerous."

We can hope this will lead to the election of a pro-American government but it's still unlikely.
Isn't this one of the countries that the Rats use to compare the US with and they say we should be just like them?
Well it's Bush's fault because now they can't get all that money from Saddamn under the guise of OFF.
If they start blaming Jews for their problems, look out. Nice job, Schroeder. And nice job, cradle-to-grave welfare state. Enjoy the cleanup.
Doesn't stop them from infesting the Caribbean and fouling the air there with their arrogant presence. Just spent a week in the Dominican Republic. What a foul lot these Germans are. Rude, arrogant, fat nasty women in bikinis and less, fat nasty guys in Speedos. My eyes will never be the same.
Add to this the fact that many of the unemployed are immigrants, many Turkish Muslims, lured to Germany by promises of work.
Yeah, they picked the right government, keep listening to th left wing and the right wing will rise again, the "LOONY" right wing.
If they had participated in the Iraqi Freedom cause they could have employed a lot of young people as soldiers and support staff, and perhaps we wouldn't move our bases from Germany...
I wonder if the ones who do not expect to have to work are from the old East Germany?
And the response from the E.U. will be to scold and sanction Germany! Frankly, I love to see Europe eat its own.
Germany is the heart of the emerging EU also, so something more to consider as Germany reduces itself to a land of unproductive slugs.
The conservative and moderate Germans have to wake up and get their act together before Shcroeder permanently wrecks their economy by putting it into everyones head that all they have to do to live in Germany is vote for his party.
Perhaps this thread provides an insight:

Good point, Judy! Ah, the fruits of communism/socialism --and the powers that be are always amazed when things go bad under this system!
I hate to generalize about any nationality, but I must say there are some German people who still have that "master race" thing going on. I have one across the street from me.
But then I just think of the incredibly nice German couple and their family I have met through the Christian schools. Very wealthy, yet completely humble and kind people.
There are good and nasty in every nationality.
You are so right about the German tourists. They may not be the worst in the world, but they have my vote.
That's the fruit you harvest from a socialist welfare state. Could the lesson to America here BE any more clear?
Jeeze.
If it happens the next Chancellor would be the woman Helmut Kohl used to affectionately call das Mädchen (the girl), Angela Merkel who has been outspokenly supportive of President Bush.
No, No, No. They can't do that twice. All of the problems in Eurasia will be OUR fault. Hatred for the US will distract them from their putrid lives and be the uniting factor that will keep Chirac and Schroeder in power.
Its not nice to HATE AMERICA AND PRESIDENT BUSH....justice has come your way....oopppsss
