Iraq Group Says Holds U.S. Soldier - Web (GI Joe doll?)

DUBAI (Reuters) - A little-known Iraqi insurgent group said on Tuesday it was holding a U.S. soldier and threatened to kill him within 72 hours if Iraqi prisoners were not released, according to an Internet statement.

"Our mujahideen ... have managed to capture the American soldier John Adam after killing a number of his colleagues," said the Mujahideen Squadrons in the undated statement.

It carried a picture appearing to show a U.S. soldier sitting in front of a black banner with a rifle pointed at his head. The authenticity of the claim, which did not say where the man was seized, could not be verified.

"We will cut his throat in 72 hours if our male and female prisoners in the occupation jails are not released," it said.

A group using the same name, Mujahideen Squadrons, last month claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of a Brazilian engineer in Iraq (news - web sites).

Insurgents in Iraq, including al Qaeda's wing in Iraq, have been waging attacks on U.S.-led forces since they invaded the country in 2003.

A pill would only work if it didn't get flushed out of the body after they took a dump. There are probably ways of doing it.

I can't believe that anyone here is even taking this seriously.

My head tells me it's not true and I'm 99% sure it's not. But there's always that little part of you that thinks "maybe" and gets a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. I know it's most likely not true but I'll still cross my fingers until I'm sure.

If we did that, I can see Ted Kennedy and the rest of the Dems calling for President Bush's impeachment. It would take them less than 24 hrs to start the process

We're currently too occupied having our media flagellate us with stories of "mistreatment" of killers at Guantanamo.

Our troops are told to fight a conventional war with nonconventional enemies.

Even if true, we must not deal with terrorists.

This demand on their part, by the way, highlights that those insurgents captured on the battlefield are not regulars and do not fall under the provisions of Geneva.

To execute a prisoner on their part is their admission that they are not party to those conventions.

I can remember at least two times they tried this propaganda.

One time they said they had two soldiers. They gave names and showed drivers licences of the two. It turned out to be a ruse.

Hopefully this will turn out to be a ruse too.

There is, however, a Private John Adam in the Army system. Hopefully it's not him.

Oh, Blessed Saviour, please let this not be true.
How in the world could one of our soldiers (armed at all times, presumably) have been captured??

"A little-known Iraqi insurgent group said on Tuesday it was holding a U.S. soldier and threatened to kill him within 72 hours if Iraqi prisoners were not released, according to an Internet statement."

A band of murdering thugs threatening to kill a US solider is labeled an "insurgent group" by the MSM?

Here, this is how it should read...

A little-known Iraqi insurgent TERRORIST GROUP said on Tuesday it was holding a U.S. soldier and threatened to kill him within 72 hours if Iraqi prisoners were not released, according to an Internet statement.
