I missed Feinstein saying Reno was "independent", but you know what? I've always thought "independent" was code word for stubborn old lesbian. And along with "independent", Reno's resume should include "dumber than dirt"! Hillary didn't want to pick Reno, she was the bottom of the barrel after Hillary's other female choices, (Kimba Wood, Zoe Baird) didn't pass muster.

Gonzales will be confirmed by no more than 3 votes. I can't remember if I copy/pasted the following from CNS or Christian Science Monitor:

"Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Gonzales on a 10-8 vote - with all eight Democrats on the committee voting against him.

Press reports said Democrats on the Judiciary Committee were surprised that their vote against Gonzales was unanimous - and they reportedly are trying right now to get as many Democrats as possible to vote against Gonzales when his nomination comes before the full Senate."
