More and more good folks are finding out about Terri and that judicial tyranny would take her life, but for lots and lots of prayer and non-stop lobbying of relatives, friends, clergy, our leaders, the media, a passerby, a cashier - ANYONE who you feel comfortable chatting with.
Folks always want to know how can this be in America or on earth for that matter? Unfortunately, this is really happening to an innocent woman who just celebrated her 41st birthday. She's not the only one but she's the one with devoted parents and siblings who knows what's in Terri's heart. Terri has a strong will to live. That's apparent. It's been 14 years.
Besides, feeding tubes have been around practically since the Civil War. They are not high tech devices. Terri is "not hooked up to machines". Her feeding tube is the diameter of a piece of spaghetti.
Talkin' about Terri is the best way to lobby for her. It is a salespitch to save her life and subsequently, many lives. If you've never sold anything in your life, START NOW. START WITH TERRI.

The most significant event in Terri's case in January, was the Supreme's Courts refusal to hear Governor Jeb Bush's appeal, after the Florida State Legislature struck down Terri's Law. This once again places Terri's life in extreme jeopardy, though there are other issues regarding her case before the court.
"The article claimed that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs (DACA) is currently investigating a foundation set up by the Schindlers, claiming that the foundation is illegally taking donations to help defray the Schindler’s legal costs in their battle to keep their daughter alive.
According to Florida Statutes, nonprofit groups that solicit contributions in Florida must be registered with the DACA. Registered groups are required to file an annual report of contributions and expenses although the names of the contributors do not have to be reported.
DACA claims that while the Foundation was registered with the Department of Corporations in Feb. 8, 2002, it was never registered to solicit contributions." The Empire Journal
Isn't it interesting that the DACA is bringing this up now--right before they plan to kill Terri! This is calculated of course.
They want to keep the Schindlers quiet now AND after they kill Terri. This is the way they expect to accomplish it. I do hope it won't work.

Study finds awareness in comatose
Findings show patients with brain damage might hear and understand more than thought.

Thousands of brain-damaged people who are treated as if they are almost completely unaware may in fact hear and register what is going on around them but be unable to respond, a new brain imaging study suggests.
The findings, if repeated in follow-up experiments, could have sweeping implications for determining the best care for these patients. Some experts said the study, which appeared Monday in the journal Neurology, could also have consequences for legal cases, when parties dispute the mental state of a patient who is unresponsive.
The research showed that brain-imaging technology could be a powerful tool to help doctors and family members determine whether a person had lost all awareness or was still somewhat mentally engaged, experts said.
"This study gave me goose bumps, because it shows this possibility of this profound isolation, that these people are there, that they've been there all along, even though we've been treating them as if they're not," said Dr. Joseph Fins, chief of the medical ethics division of New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Center. Fins was not involved in the study but collaborates with its authors on other projects.
Other experts warned that the new research was more suggestive than conclusive, and that it did not mean that unresponsive people with brain damage were more likely to recover or that treatment was yet possible.
But they said the study did open a window on a world that has been neglected by medical inquiry. "This is an extremely important work, for that reason alone," said Dr. James Bernat, a professor of neurology at Dartmouth.
Findings relevant
Bernat said findings from studies like these would be relevant to cases like that of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman with brain damage who has been kept alive for years against her husband's wishes. In that case, relatives of Terri Schiavo disagree about her condition, and a brain-imaging test -- once it has been standardized -- could help determine whether brain damage has extinguished awareness.
The patients in question have significant brain damage. Three million to six million Americans live with the consequences of serious brain injuries, neurologists say. An estimated 100,000 to 300,000 of them are in what is called a minimally conscious state: They are bedridden, cannot communicate and are unable to feed or care for themselves, but they typically breathe on their own.
They may occasionally react to instructions to blink their eyes or even reach for a glass, although such responses are unpredictable. By observing behavior in a bedside examination, neurologists can determine whether a person is minimally conscious or in a "persistent vegetative state" -- without awareness, and almost certain not to recover.
In the study, a team of neuroscientists in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., used imaging technology to compare brain activity in two young men determined to be minimally conscious with that of seven healthy men and women. In a measure of overall brain activity, the two groups were vastly different: The two minimally conscious men showed less than half the activity of the others.
But the researchers also recorded an audiotape for each of the nine subjects in which a relative or loved one reminisced, telling familiar stories and recalling shared experiences. In each of the brain-damaged patients, the sound of the voice prompted a pattern of brain activity similar to that of the healthy participants.
"We assumed we would get some minimal response in these patients, but nothing like this," said Dr. Nicholas Schiff, an assistant professor of neurology and neuroscience at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in Manhattan and the study's lead author. The two men showed near-normal patterns in the language-processing areas of their brains, Schiff said, suggesting that some neural networks "could be perfectly preserved under some conditions."
Results questionable
Although the number of patients studied was very small, the specificity and intricacy of the patterns made it all but impossible that the results were a fluke, said Dr. Joy Hirsch, director of the Functional MRI Research Center at Columbia University Medical Center and the study's senior author.
One of the two minimally conscious men lay still in a brain-imaging machine while his sister recounted his toast at her wedding and recalled times playing together as children. Although his eyes were closed, the researchers found that visual areas of his brain were active, suggesting that he might have been producing imaginary images, Hirsch said.
"We do not know for sure what is happening in this man's head, but if he were imagining things at the sound of his sister's voice, that would suggest some connection to emotion," Hirsch said.
Mental states
Since the study was completed, Hirsch said, the team has run the same kinds of tests on seven similar brain-injury patients, with similar results: The language processing networks in their brains display seemingly normal patterns upon their hearing the voice of a loved one. The government has provided financing for the team to conduct a larger study of mental activity in minimally conscious people.
A better understanding of brain patterns in minimally conscious patients should also help cut down on misdiagnosis by doctors, Fins said.
He said one study had found that as many as 30 percent of patients identified as being unaware, in a persistently vegetative state, were not. They were minimally conscious, like the men in the imaging study.
Moreover, mental states can change over time, and some patients have almost completely recovered function after being thought vegetative. Brain imaging would be one way to track these changes, and even link them to efforts at treatment. Doctors have no cure for either a minimally conscious or persistently vegetative state.

Michael Schiavo told Larry King, "Nothing is going to stop me" from killing Terri.
Schiavo, "But you know something? I'm fortunate to have two women in my life that I love very much. My girlfriend right now has done more for Terri than her own mother did. She shopped for her. She washed her clothes."
Larry King: "Would you divorce her (Terri) so you could marry the mother of her child?"
Schiavo: "We (Jodi and Michael) have no plans right now to be married. We're content the way we are."
Michael told Larry King that Terri's death would be painless, "It's a very easy way to die."

CLEARWATER (FBW)--Urging the court to not rush into a life-and-death situation at the hands of an “overzealous” attorney, a lawyer for Terri Schiavo’s family argued Jan. 28 that she has never been given her constitutional right to an independent attorney, something that should happen before she is literally starved to death by a court order.
Gibbs said Terri Schiavo had not been given due process under the law because she did not have independent counsel at any time during the proceeding that would ultimately decide whether she lives or dies. He also argued that the separation of powers is in jeopardy when the judiciary is solely responsible in deciding the outcome of such a critical issue.
Several times at the hearing, Gibbs urged the judge to make sure, whatever the outcome, that Terri Schiavo has her day in court.
“I urge the court not to rush,” Gibbs said. “There is not reversibility once Terri Schiavo has been starved and dehydrated to death.”
I suppose that's why he's booking speaking gigs at 10k and 15k a shot, talking about Terri's case publicly.
Guess that's why in the same interview (LKL) that they tried to gross people out who know nothing about Terri's case and talked about how hard it is to open Terri's legs and that she smells, etc. Right to privacy on national television huh? These guys are worse than jokerz.
What they've done to Terri is the crime of the century. It is the State v. an innocent American (an attack by the enemy within).
You are right, txrangerette, FLORIDIANS need the help of every state in the union. Florida is not listening to us but it's still a murder after a robbery and Terri retains her civil rights. We need all freepers to make just a handful of calls per freeper to their US congressmen and women!
Looking at the Larry King Live caption. IMO, fighting to end someone's life is CALLED PRE-MEDIDATED MURDER. Look how far evil and greed have come in America. Look at the face of hino, the embodiment of evil and greed.
Local Fox Channel 13 had a Schindler spokesperson on discussing the brain research discoveries. Their spokesperson did an admirable job and even Anchor John Wilson seemed enthused about Terri. He did a Sunday night tv editorial at the end of 2003 that was against Terri. IT WAS A STUNNER. The station received complaints after that and he spoke to Terri supporters. Hopefully, John Wilson gets it. He hasn't called for Terri's starvation death since that one Sunday night. (his son is in the movie Phantom of the Opera, {Patrick Wilson, as the love interest).
The medicaid fraud continues because they re-certify every six months that Terri is terminally ill yet she has no disease processes. That's why there are coverups.
A lot of people continue to break the laws of Fla and the U.S. and they actually think that if they harm Terri, they are home free.
Judge Greer did the first and worst ACTS AGAINST TERRI because HE ENDORSED ALL OF MICHAEL'S ACTS INSTEAD OF PROTECTING THE WARD.
So, it's important to think about today - Terri's still with us.
