pc93 reporting:
Called several numbers on the contact list of people on the Judicial Committee to call to voice displeasure with House Bill 0523 / Senate Bill 0988. I got down to Baxley and his secretary said he didn't know of the HB0523. His secretary told me so. Get on those phones people. She brought it up and said "Oh my". Basically I told her what it was about. I said that the House Bill HB701 was a good bill. Baxley is the one who is the sponsor of it she said. Apparently it is similar to the HB692 that never made it to the floor because of Jim King. Baxley's secretary is going to bring HB0523 to Rep. Baxley's attention. Senator Campbell is the sponsor of the heinous bill in the senate (Senate Bill 0988). I couldn't find one of the two evil sponsors of the House Bill -> Mr. Carlos Lopez-Cantera but Baxley's secretary got me his phone number. Tall: 850-488-4202. District Office: 305-442-6977. Basically Baxley's sec. told me in regards to a question I had about asking a Rep. about who is responsible for a bill being introduced, etc. that most Reps. will tell you who it is, etc. Time to find out people. Make some calls. Flores and Cantera need some calls as well as the Judicial Committee Members and your own particular FL House and Senate Reps.
What "local TV" station(s) covered that? Do you have any sources to back up your claims?
How about WTVT and WFLA.
This is getting very frustrating. Why don't some of Terri's supporters start doing it right, and effectively, and produce results, rather than trying to play CYOA and blame everyone else.
I appreciate all your dedication. I just wish it had produced results... for Terri!

Ooops. I could kick myself. Maybe I spoke too soon re: HB701. It apparently has a horrible provision for PVS patients. It leaves the decision making upon ethics committees or the Florida Bioethics Network, i.e. Ken Goodman, etc. in the meantime do not voice support for HB701. Right now legal, medical, and disability advocates are working on sorting this out. Please forgive me.
BUMP.
This bears repeating. Some of the language regarding patients who the COURT has decided are PVS can be hazzardous. Please read the entire contents of this act.

Experts are having a look. Will let you know the outcome asap. Thanks.
You in public relations, isn't that an oxymoron?
If you hear anything about the court proceeding today, please let me know so I can ping the others.
At first glance, House Bill 701 looks like it will help incapacitated people who are in danger of being starved and dehydrated to death. The title of section 765.601 is "Starvation and Dehydration of Persons with Disabilities Prevention Act." But the bill states that a medical ethics committee helps to determine whether or not an incapacitated person is to be starved to death.
Section 765.404(2) of the bill states, "The guardian and the person's attending physician, in consultation with the medical ethics committee of the facility where the patient is located, conclude that the condition (persistant vegetative state) is permanent....and that withholding or withdrawing life-prolonging procedures is in the best interest of the patient. [T]he facility must have an arrangement with the medical ethics committee of another facility or with a community based ethics committee approved by the Florida Bioethics Network. The ethics committee shall review the case with the guardian...."

My clients don't think so.
bump
You said you spoke to them on three separate occasions. You didn't say where or when. Are you changing your story again?

Haven't seen you on these threads in a long time. Why won't you just come out and say "what" it is that Terri's supporters should be doing? We're all ears! 8^)
Please reread the post. I never said I spoke with "The Foundation." I was called by three individuals who all swore that they were "close to the family."
Please do misquote me.... or Terri.
Geezo criminy! You spoke with three unidentified people who said they were close to Terri, they promised to call you back in 30 minutes, and they failed to do so. So why are you blaming the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation?
This is the only photo I've found of any demonstrator, at either of the stations you referred to.
Here's the only video I've found at either of those stations. It shows Terri's supporters carrying signs in support of Terri; but no fetuses, anti-abortion signs, frightened children, etc.
Again I ask, do you have anything, anything at all, to back up your claims?
Do these things and you will win, if it's not too late. Good luck.
Prayers....
Another misquote:
Who said I blame the foundation?
You're on her side,,,,, right?
