I just found this over at Vampire Bat, did a search for it in here, and didn't find it. I know there are lots of posters in here who have never had the opportunity to see a Vulcan or other multi-barreled weapon fire - well, HERE IT IS!! Once you see this video you'll want to show it to everyone you can........Damn I wish we'd have had those machine guns in our units when I was in.
If you have a dial up connection, be patient. IT IS WORTH THE TIME TO DOWNLOAD THIS VIDEO!!!!

The big downer is the ammo at $900.00 a minute for surplus. If you have chance check out the Knob Creek shoot some time they normally have a couple show up there for the machine gun shoots in Apr and Oct. Whatching the video is a kind of let down after being there and whatching it live. They normally have people there that rent the guns. If your into firearms it is a must see at least once.

During the early to mid 1980s I worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth Texas maker of the F-16 Flying Falcon and previously the F-111. It is now a division of Lockheed Martin. I worked in the stealth groups that analyzed RADAR signatures of military components. One of our short range sites was close to the boresight range where technicians would calibrate the Gatlin machine gun on each F-16 as part of its final checkout. I worked with the F-16 for decades and have never seen one that was equipped with a "Gatling Gun". You're probably talking about the A-10, Warthog.
The F-16 is so fast, it would probably shoot itself down if it had such a gun.

I can't view the link. the best one I've seen so far is when they started the Saturday night shoot with a door gunner from a Huey (I believe), I managed to get a picture of the Helocopter back lit by the diesel fuel going off behind him. Then the 2 mini guns let loose on both sides of the range. It's really interesting to see people buying ammo by the pallet and telling the dealer which gate at the range to deliver it to.

Kind of gives a new meaning to "raining fire from the sky", doesn't it?

I just checked the "Glory" tape and all the music is renamed for the movie. I don't know if it's a remake or I was wrong where the music originated from. The Glory soundtrack (by James Horner) does sound very similar to Carmina Burana, particularly the "Charging Fort Wagner" track. It is very understandable to confuse the two.
Carmina Burana is probably the most often imitated classical piece in film scores. Others in which I have found a similarity are The Last of the Mohicans ("Massacre/Canoes"), First Knight ("Arthur's Farewell"), Conan the Barbarian ("Battle of the Mounds"), and Matrix Revolutions ("Neodämmerung").

My late uncle worked at the Rock Island Arsenal years ago, and on one visit, he gave me a dummy 20mm round that had been used for testing some new Vulcan application. He was very impressed with the rotary cannons, although he (an ETO vet) had a lot of respect for the Maxon quad .50 AA mountings.
I still have that dummy round after almost 40 years.
For those interested in reading about this sort of thing, check out Anthony Williams' book "Rapid Fire: The Development of Automatic Cannon, Heavy Machine Guns and their Ammunition for Armies, Navies and Air Forces."
