The genes a man gets from his mother and father may play an important role in determining whether he is gay or not, according to a new study likely to reignite the gay gene debate.
Researchers say its the first time the entire human genetic makeup (search) has been scanned in search of possible genetic determinants of male sexual orientation. The results suggest that several genetic regions may influence homosexuality.
It builds on previous studies that have consistently found evidence of genetic influence on sexual orientation, but our study is the first to look at exactly where those genes are located, says researcher Brian Mustanski, PhD, a psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Those previous studies looked only at the genes located on the X chromosome (search). Genes on this chromosome are only passed to a son from his mother. But this study examined genetic information on all chromosomes, including genes from the father.

Ummmm ok, but it was temoved, so now you are referring to "post removed by moderator LOL
I don't think so. Many gene mutations cause many disordered conditions...
Regardless, if homosexual gene abnormalities are verified as causal in some cases -I do not believe homosexuals will ever stop trying to get society to accept homosexuality and accept homosexual activity as 'normal' rather than what the activity is -intrinsically disordered and depraved.
Too true. I'm scottish; a very violent, warlike bunch of folks. I often feel the urge to kill fools, and morons, but I don't.
This is to dove tail with the We are Family project.
If it is a gene cause then we HAVE to "accept" homosexual behavior.
IF it is a chosen behavior then THEY have to accept responsibility.
If the MSM was serious then they would have an ARTICULATE Narth representative right NEXT to any homo-proponent to disect the non-science of this so called study.
I want to see them find the "pedophile" gene. (or animal sex gene)
Shepard Smith (rumored to be light in the loafers) will probably have this as his lead story on monday, or this week at some point.
This is only about keeping "the controversy open" because we are making progress at persuading the public that choice is the dominant factor in the homosexual behavior.
It also is odd that the We Are Family homo-video/mandatory pledge is coming out in a few days. We Are Family is taking the position of "born homo" so this so called study dovetails quite nicely with the propaganda. (reminds me of hitler's aryan genes are better manure)
As always, longterm, an excellent point.
Genes don't completely cancel out the choices we make in life either. How we turn out depends a lot on how we are influence during life.
(s)is there a Freeper Gene? (/s)
ROFL I think it's more of a contageous thing, much like you would get hooked on.......oh say the truth?? LOL

No you can't. Influence is the whole thing. I too knew a few gays in my life, ALL of which were molested or worse as young children. One was by an older kid, a cousin, who himself was molested. Another was by a neighbor who had boys do his yard work, and help him around the house.
There may be an explanation other than genetic or childhood experiences and environment. Hormonal anomalies in the womb may be a factor.
1. Girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia. The girls are masculinized by they androgens produced by the overactive adrenal glands. They have a higher than normal incidence of lesbianism.
2. DES (diethyl stilbestrol) daughters. In addition to the propensity for developing cervical cancer, these girls are much more likely to be lesbian than the general population.
3. Likewise DES sons are more likely to have disturbances in their sexual and gender identity development.
4. Other drugs, such as barbiturates or dilantin, that may affect the development of the hypothalamus and brain structure have been implicated as increasing the incidence of homosexuality or increasing the likelihood of gender identity problems.
Ya, queers wear Jordashe jeans
Since sexual orientation is such a complex trait, were never going to find any one gene that determines whether someone is gay or not, says Mustanski. Its going to be a combination of various genes acting together as well as possibly interacting with environmental influences.

indeed.
Good for you.
A shame the Anglish didnt so restrain themselves so much.
But then again, half of Scotland is the progeny of Anglish bastardy anyway, so whose keeping score any more these days?
I believe that homosexuality, alcoholism, obesity and a number of other behaviors can be influenced by your genes. I.e. your genes "pre-dispose" you towards certain behavior, in some cases weakly and in other cases perhaps strongly. But the bottom line is that these genes are not enough by themselves to force you into a certain behavior. In the end, you choose your own behavior.
Years ago (1990 or 1991?) there was a study on identical twins raised apart. There were a lot of correlations found - mostly weak I think - in a large number of behaviors. Such things as whether they got married, what names they picked for their children, whether they had pet dogs or cats or both, and so on. When it came to homosexuality, there was a correlation somewhat larger than would be expected by random chance, but it was nowhere near 100%. If gayness was caused only by genes, then there should be close to a 100% correlation. If it had nothing to do with genes then it should be zero. So the fact that it was somewhere in the middle means that the genes can increase someone's chance of being a homosexual, but something else has to be there too - such as environmental influences, cultural influences, individual choices, etc.
The other one was on the X chromosome and this study looked specifically at it and found not correlation, not even a statistically insignificant one.
This study, though, seems politcally driven and their comment was that somehow their study must not have been good enough is all.
They take as a priori that there is a gay gene and accept all the other bogus studies that have been put forth previously.
It really is a funny article in a pathetically funny way.
Soooooo... a biological reporoductive malfunction is hereditary, eh?
Riiiiight!
I lift a tall, cold Fraoch (Heather Ale) to you, my friend!
(putting on some Capercaillie to listen to, also!)
