I got the distinct impression from Russert's hard questioning of JoKe that Russert was paving the way to get Kerry out of the way for someone else [who oh who would benefit???].

I had the same thought myself. It will be amazing to see how the media starts gradually discovering more and more dirt on Kerry (dirt that we here at FR have known about for some time), and the pressure will slowly be applied until he announces that he is not going to run in 2008. Then he can go back to being a Senate backbencher.

An Iraqi soldier crawls towards a polling station in an act of respect during his country's national elections in eastern Baghdad January 30, 2005. Free men don't have to crawl, sir. Plus, you need to keep your hands free in case a MSM camera crew happens by so you can give them the appropriate gestures.

Kerry's reaction to losing the election is much like Gore's reaction. They can't get over it. Kerry will probably be the same as Gore has been the last four years, constantly attacking Bush and acting like he should be the President, not Bush.

Compare their handling of the situation to George H.W. Bush, who got over his election loss and soon after began engaging in productive activities.

But it the insurgents wanted to stop people in Baghdad from voting, they failed. If they wanted to cause chaos, they failed. The voters were completely defiant, and there was a feeling that the people of Baghdad, showing a new, positive attitude, had turned a corner.

and this is the NY Times, same article

Is that true? What a pathetic media we have. No wonder Fox is gaining. Americans are sick and tired of the anti-Americanism from the media.

Someone said to me the other day that Kennedy, Boxer, and Kerry were going to Iraq to try out for suicide bombers!

Teddy should go the human shield route. He could single-handly shield an entire baby formula factory.

Interesting observation:

No shooting guns in the air in celebration.

Can things have changed that much?

What great news. A glorious day for Iraq! Long voting lines and low attack numbers.

Gee, and I thought all Muslims were terrorists. This is a great day for America, and hopefully it will wake many up to the fact that the great majority of Muslims want peace.

Both of them spent their whole lives believing it was their birth right to someday be President. The fact that they failed means their life is incomplete in their world view.
