The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON -- Mosques across the U.S. continue to carry books and pamphlets describing non-Muslims as "infidels" and promoting intolerance against Western society, according to a forthcoming study by Freedom House, a U.S. human-rights group.

Despite vows from American Islamic leaders after Sept. 11, 2001, to proselytize peacefully, New York based Freedom House researchers found 57 documents with incendiary material in more than a dozen mosques and Islamic centers in six states and Washington, D.C., visited over the past year.

Recent communications between Usama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi indicated that bin Laden has "encouraged Zarqawi and his group to focus on attacks inside the United State, multiple U.S. officials told FOX News on Monday.

The sources would not get into detail about how the communication was made or how it was intercepted by the United States and they pointed out that there is nothing specific in the message — such as maps, specific cities, or buildings — just a message encouraging a "focus" on attacks inside U.S. borders.

This has the potential to be significant. Last weekend AQ #2 Al-Zarwhari had a new video on Al-Jazera, and we are in a 60-day watch window based upon that threat. PERSONAL OPINION-SPECULATION: Every day is a go day for jihadis. They hate us. If they the time is right for them, if the terrorist equipment is available; it's a go for them.

My assessment of Zarqawi is that his leadership infrastructure is coming apart - based upon the multiple major subordinant leaders captured over the past couple of months and dramatically increased effort against Iraqis. The jihad in Iraq is losing steam, so I wonder how OBL could encourage Z to commence with attacks on mainland US when he can't closer to home. This is definitely a go signal, but can Z muster up the forces and resources to go, or is it indirectly aimed at those who can.
