Bud, you're mealting down. When you argue what you do on this forum, you're not doing any favors to your parents, the church or scouting.
You can't say it, but I can. Any person who crosses our borders without going through the proper channels is a criminal. It is defined in U.S. law. The illegal alien is in violation of our laws.
As for your examples, it's clear you really are getting desparate.
Is the "Doug Thompson" who wrote this article the same one who ran Capitol Hill Blue?
Hispanic Voters Declared Their Independence
"Mr. Bush won 44 percent of the Hispanic vote, more than any Republican presidential candidate in at least three decades. That tally, more than 10 percentage points higher than he received in 2000..."
They sure got a funny way of showin their anger.
When President Bush won re-election in the year 2000, there were around ten million illegal immigrants in this nation. Those ten million had come into the nation since 1989, the end of the last amnesty program. That is an entrance rate of about nine hundred thousand per year, for eleven years.
Over the last four years, that rate of flow has increased to between two and three million illegals.
President Bush has a policy of not enforcing our immigration laws. He swore to protect and preserve the Constitution of the United States to the best of his ability. That Constitution states that the federal government, of which he is the titular head, SHALL protect the states against invasion.
His policy, as evidenced by four years of inaction, is to allow the invasion of our nation to continue.
OK, since you know so much and don't need educating, tell us which law is being flouted when a state issues a driver's license to a person without requiring him to prove that he is a United States citizen.
Which statute?
Is it flouting a law when a state issues a fishing license, hunting license, pilots license, exterminators license, marriage license, air conditioning repairman's license, food service license, retail merchant license, etc... without requiring proof of U.S. citizenship?
You don't even begin to have a clue about the meaning of a federalist system.
But please just tell us which federal law is being flouted.
Yep Huckabees another RINO like Santorum, and Hagel. You guys must be down to about 2 or 3 heroes now. Well at least you guys got good conservatives like Byrd on your side.
No he said they were unaware of counter arguments.
I don't know where you get your figures but they don't match the census bureau numbers. Total illegal immigrants as of last year were five million. That's less than two percent of the total population.
Out of curiosity, how do illegal immigrants impact you personally? Surely they can't compete with you in the labor market. Is it personal?
OK, cite the section of the constitution taht says a state must see proof of U.S. cituzenship before issuing a drivers license to an individual.
So you're another loser who doesn't support the U.S. Constituion and the laws of the United States regarding immigration. What other laws do you advocate we ignore?
As for the Byrd comment, once again you guys have a real problem with defending lawless behavior without pulling out the race card.
I'm embarassed for you.
Dubya could spend a lot of time and energy passing legislation that would be overturned by the SCOTUS but that would be stupid. Dubya passed a PBA ban, stopped federal funding for abortions, eased restrictions on adoption, and helped struggling families with taxcut for children and married people. That was what could be done with a small majority in the Senate.
Dubya wasn't satisfied with that. He bucked the trend in 2002 by campaigning and wining seats in the Senate. In 2004 Dubya did just enough to win re-election and focused his energies on electing more Senators. A vain man might have tried for a huge electoral victory but Dubya knows his legacy will be the judges that will bring the end of abortion.
Well, you can state that between two and three million people crossing our borders each year, twenty to thirty million strong in ten years, isn't an invasion if you like. As I said before, you're posts are quite informational. They reveal a dirth in comprehension skills on your part.
I mentioned that Time magazine reported three million illegals were crossing the border each year. I'm not entirely comfortable with that figure myself, but it's certain at least two million are crossing the border. As for you not knowing where I got those figures, I mentioned where I got them earlier, so it's a little difficult to take that at face value. As I said before, comprehension skills isn't your strong suit.
As for how illegal immigrants impact me personally, I'll answer you like this. I have not been a victim of murder, robbery, theft, GTA or a myriad of other crimes. That doesn't mean that I will give those perpetrating these crimes a pass until I am. The laws of our nation either deserve to be honored or they don't. If one law is not worthy of enforcement, then no laws are worthy of enforcement.
Either our nation is a nation of laws or it isn't. You keep advocating for it not being a nation of laws. I think that is a jack-ass arguement, but you're welcome to it if you like.
There is nothing unconstitutional about changing laws that are counterproductive and unresponsive to reality. We have done it many times before.
What other laws do you advocate we ignore?
I don't advocate ignoring laws. I advocate fixing the ones that are broken. Our current immigration policy is exascerbating the problem. If there is not enough labor in the US then some jobs will have to go to the workers outside the US and some US businesses will just fail.
As for the Byrd comment...I'm embarassed for you.
