Something about this media coverage is really bothering me. The media's hope for things to go really bad today is just palpable. Damn them all...

How incredible a day is this? I wish we could all be there cheering the Iraqis on. It's amazing how the act of dotting some lines and checking some boxes on a sheet of paper is more powerful than the strongest IED, homicide bomber that the terrorists could ever come up with.

This is great.

Does anyone know if any talkradio commentators are live right now following the events surrounding this historic occasion? I thought I heard that Hugh Hewitt was going to broadcast this weekend, but he doesn't appear to be on right now.

I'm in the Southern California area, but I can listen online as well. Anyone know anybody on the air right now?

You know the Bolsheviks are going to work like the devil to find a photo op of an Iraqi polling station with a sparse line. Perhaps they may even ask many of the potential voters to stand aside for a moment while they take the video.

Sorry….have to take breaks from reporting to actually do some work. ;-)

Looks like more people are showing up at the polls. I really didn’t expect much activity in the first couple of hours, but it seems to be coming alive now. Around nine in the morning is when Baghdad gets started.

At the moment, it’s quiet on the outside again. Black Hawks and Chinooks are patrolling the skies as they do on any ordinary day. Haven’t even seen any of the fighter jets go over in the last couple of hours.

They’re going to vote….sorry to disappoint you, MSM, but the Iraqis are just late risers. I think we’re going to see increasing crowds at the polls from here on in.

** Watch the women ** - they make up more than 50% of the population in Iraq because so many men have been lost, the first person to vote in Afghanistan was a young woman, they want better lives for themselves and their children, their lives are so hard they are willing to face a lot to vote, it is hard for a terrorist or insurgent to shoot an unarmed woman even in their culture I would think.

We’re going to be fine.

I was just outside having a smoke break (yeah, we have to go outside here, too…LOL) and heard another explosion that was rather close. Don’t have any details on that one yet.

It has clouded over outside, but as long as it doesn’t rain, people will go vote. Even if it does, I don’t think that will stop them. (We hate it when it rains because this place turns into a giant, slimy mud pit.)

hehehe

Deskguy on CNN is trying to find a reporter who has bad news. Camera swings to lady reporter. They can't hear for all the clapping and jubilation.

Poor deskguy turns report over to another, who is giving negative commentary.

[Still the lines of voters increases]
