"I like the black ink on the thumb thing. We should do that here--absentee ballots would have a place to ink your thumb, vote doesn't count without it....then no double voting by also going to the polls."
Or maybe have voters put a quick thumb print on the ballot prior to submitting it. Kinda like the bank does sometimes on your checks. ACLU would soil their croth to their shoes over that one!

There will probably be a "news" story saying that the voter turn out was "low" because "American soldiers intimidated Iraqi votersdid they break out the dogs and hoses?

The ACLU would sue claiming it was intimidating voters.

A lot of parallels between this election and the 1982 El Salvador election. I'm sure someone has already alluded to this.
First I've seen it, but you got that right. Thanks for reminding me.

They are claiming 72% voter turnout.

The US bad, terrorist good.Hopefully, if CNN et al try to spin this, it will just be another nail in their MSM coffin.

Fox is talking about a 72% turnout.
To: Larry Lucido

WOW! I bet that Sunni boycott isn't as big as the MSM had hoped.
To: advance_copy
I was thinking that but I was waiting for somebody who was alive and remembers it b/c it happened just before my birth.
I know I am young.

Whoo hoo
72%

The problem with the thumbprint is that people could still double-vote. I'd gladly walk around with black ink on my thumb for a couple of weeks to keep the dems from voting 10 times each.

Could someone help me out on the history of Iraq.
The media keeps saying the last vote was approx. 50 years ago. Who was elected and what form of govt. was there back then?
To: Dog
In some dark basement somewhere, Rats are sweating to come up with their spin. Here's what I predict:
DONKEY SPIN:
Well, it couldn've been better---the level of violence indicates we don't have control throughout the country. But the people showed up to vote in pretty impressive numbers.
It's apparent they are anxious to get their own government so they can be rid of the occupying force. I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, but THIS PRESIDENT has made them a target because of all his mistakes in this war. Thank goodness for the Iraqi people for their good sense...now we can bring our troops home.
Watch out for those goalposts!

Observation on mindsets: Dana Lewis (FOXNEWS) called in on the video phone to Mike, J & J. He said it's really unbelievable watching people coming out to vote- literally risking their lives to cast a ballot- very moving to see it happen. You could tell he was excited just being there- watching history.
Fast foward 20 minutes to another interview on FOX with some intellectual writer for Newsweek. He focused entirely on how much the Iraqi's want us to leave, how unstable it is, and how surprised he is at the voter turn-out. It struck me this poor fellow is so jaded and cynical he's incapable of grasping the import of this event.
Update- Looking like 72% voter turnout!!!!
