Christianne Amanpour just reported that Fallujans have begun to vote. Also that there was an Iraqi man that not only dipped his finger in the inkwell, but also his baby. And when she questioned the man about dipping his baby's finger in the inkwell since the baby could not vote, the man replied no he cannot vote, but this will always be a day that he and the baby will always remember.

That is a crime that these people don't even have wheelchairs for mobility.
I would think the polling places would have one or two available.
No one in this world should have to go without wheels even if it is a lousy brand.
Quickies are #1 but anything would do in a pinch.

Which means if people don't show up in larger numbers before then, they won't get to vote again for a couple of months. The next national vote is supposed to ratify a permanent constitution in October. Assuming the new national parliament has adopted it by then.

plus 2 more - 2 iraqi police killed by suicide bomber at a polling place. (My guess is they were on to him and he set it off)

Out of those 27, how many were the suicide bombers- the press was citing 17 dead for a while and three of those were suicide bombers or their helpers.
I hate it when the press adds in the dead terrorists in order to jack up the numbers.

We've four hours to go. It wasn't a bloodbath. And even if fewer than 20% of the Sunnis vote, it won't detract a whit from the legitimacy of this historic election.

I love that report by Shep that our drones are seeing a line of over 1000 people walking 13 miles to vote.
Inspiring stuff.

The deadliest attack occurred when a bomber with explosives strapped to his body blew himself up in the queue at a polling station in east Baghdad, killing six people, an official said.
Another bomber killed four people in west Baghdad, while others killed two people in attacks elsewhere in the capital.
A suicide car bomb also killed a policeman near a Baghdad polling site and at least four people died in a blast at a voting centre in the Sadr City slums, a Shi'ite stronghold.
A mortar attack in southern Baghdad killed at least two and mortar rounds also rained down on other cities, including Basra, Mosul, Baquba and Hilla, where one person was killed.
