If this could be tied to Iran, it will have serious
consequences!

Word is a naval officer died during that attack. Seven suspects captured in the attack--blast triggered the radar which sent the signal to a Predator. Two carloads--3 in one, 4 in another, caught, tested for rocket residue. Given showers and are being interrogated now--hope they're letting the Iraqis do it!

Our prayers are with you and your family and all those in the Embassy.

Fox is reporting 7 terrorists have been captured after the rocket attack.

Some excellent reporting by Shep Smith. Loved that story about our troops seeing crowds gathering at a polling station. We went to investigate, fearing they were terrorists getting ready to attack. When we got there, we found it was Iraqi security personnel protecting the place, and Iraqi citizens coming early to check and be sure that their names were on the list of people registered to vote. Love it!

McGovern was the Commencement Speaker at my brother's graduation from Albany Medical Center in NY.

I don't remember if he was running for Pres., or was just defeated.

But my father, a WW2 Navy vet, got up and walked out.

Iraqi civilians are securing the polling places....on there own.

I'm almost afraid to post this, but if I wanted to wreak the most havoc during these elections, instead of killing voters I'd wait until the voting is over and then blow up the polling places, destroying all the ballots before they are counted. That way, nobody would know who won and you'd have to do it all over again.

I hope they all don't let their guard down once the voting is over.

I was really surprised there wasnt an Iraqi election thread ongoing. No news could be bigger. And nothing else matters right now to me.

I totally agree. It's going to be a long and wondrous day. Maybe the admin moderator would make this the live election coverage thread if you wanted to?

I think Walter's contribution has been greatly exaggerated.

As an 'oldie' here, I can assure you that EVERYONE in the U.S. watched the nightly news and it was assumed that Walter was not only telling the truth, but that he had a very special, annointed, place at the table, so to speak, that gave him the inside and accurate track to whatever was going on. There was absolutely no question that what he said 'must be gospel'. You must keep in mind that none of us had alternative sources of information - the local newspaper, radio (music and sports and hourly short news headlines and weather was the total fare)and the nightly news on TV was it. That nightly news broadcast was THE way that everyone found out what was going on. Walter was beyond reproach and considered a part of everyone's family. Sorry to be long-winded, but this is definitely where the reign of so-called mainstream media, and their power, began.

Thank you for your support. FOX also said that the 2nd person killed was a "contractor" which would rule out my brother in law...prayers for his family. The family has yet to hear personally but I believe they will soon...have had many supportive posts and much appreciated.

Is anyone watching Shepherd's film on "Saddam's Hideout"? Fascinating.

"That could be but I remember very vividly his hate-filled broadcasts."

Do you actually remember "them" or or do you remember "'them" constantly being referred to as the "Turning Point" in the Vietnam war, since then.

Glad your BIL is OK, but am saying a prayer for the brave ones who gave their lives, and for their grieving families.

We had a scare the night the chopper went down, killing 30 Marines and one sailor. My son-in-law is USMC, he's been in Iraq for seven months and is scheduled to leave after the election. He's a JAG, and spends a lot of time in choppers, going from one area to another. It was hours before my daughter on Okinawa heard from him.

I don't think anyone who has a loved one in Iraq can breathe easily until the loved one leaves there.
