Mom Wants Pro-Homosexual Poster Out of Ariz. Elementary School

By Jim Brown
January 28, 2005

A Christian mom is expressing shock and outrage over the promotion of homosexuality taking place at her children's elementary school in northeastern Arizona.

At issue is a wall poster at Washington Elementary School in Winslow that includes information about the school's female art teacher and features a rainbow flag symbolizing homosexual pride. The poster urges acceptance of all people, regardless of their race, religion, or sexual orientation.

Deborah Ewbank, who has a second-grade son and fourth-grade daughter at the school, recalls her reaction when she first saw the poster. "My mouth fell open," she says. "I was just blown away. In an elementary school, I didn't see a place for this type of word usage."

And the Arizona parent found the images on the wall display as disturbing as its verbal message. "As I looked, I noticed there were only pictures of women together on this poster," she says, "and in one of the pictures, it's highly suggested that these women were going to kiss or had just kissed."

Although Ewbank was appalled by what she saw and read, she points out that her efforts to do something about it have met with discouraging results. "It seems, so far, from the people I've talked to that, as a Christian, I have no right to demand that [the pro-homosexual poster] be removed from the wall of the school," she says.

But the Christian mom insists that something must be done about what she considers an age-inappropriate show of homosexual pride in an elementary school that enrolls students as young as age five. "I don't think children need to see that on a daily basis," she says. "It's hard enough to combat all the other things that they're teaching in schools that go against the Word of God, but that one -- I just can't stand for that."

Dismayed by what she sees happening in her tight-knit community, Ewbank is determined to take action. She says if homosexuality continues to be affirmed in the school, she plans to pull her children out and work with other parents to begin home schooling.

I agree that "the walk" is much more effective than "the talk". Although....many times threats can be effective. Especially so...if the one who is making it, has a track record of following thru.

Whether it was "pointless" or not....I cannot tell at this junction of the story. I ask you, do you always know the answer you will get...before you make a statement or ask a question?

FWIW-

To: Mockingbird For Short

Their rationalization is that because humans - especially adolescents - have absolutely no control over their sex impulses and are essentially no different than rutting animals, teaching abstinence is unnatural, because no one can scientifically remain abstinent. Their argument is that it's like trying to teach a pig to sing - wastes time and annoys the pig. So when kids are taught that abstinence is a good tactic to remain disease and unwanted pregnancy free, they become discouraged and ignorant and go out and rut like crazy without any condoms, since they don't know what they are; not having been taught in school.

Their view of humans is that we are nothing but animals. Actually animals have more regulation and order than what their view of humans is.

They have no science to back up their claim. It is merely the screeching and howling of those who are filled with anger and peurile lust for power.

"The Mother says IF."

We can't expect anything different. This is a learned response on her part:

"Johnny, IF you do that one more time, you're going into time-out!"

"Mary, I'm going to count to ten. IF you don't stop, you're going into time out!"

"Johnny, I'm going to tell you one more time!" IF you keep doing that, you're going into time-out!"

"Mary, I'm going to count to ten one more time! IF you keep doing that you're going into time-out!"

And so forth to sickening ad infinitum......

As a PR move, all we need to do is mention "Michael Jackson" early and often when they talk of how wonderful homosexuality in the family can be...

Cheers!

Mom needs medication. -- . . . Mom needs alcohol -- . . . If she was decent parent she would use this as a way of teaching her children instead all this trauma. . . . See How Easy! The child learned tolerance without submitting to acceptance, kept the important values of the family AND kept peace with the school (a priority according to St. Paul).

Your post is cute (i.e., "obviously straining for effect"). But do you really believe what you wrote about tolerance?

Suppose, for example, that someone were to hand a poster promoting, say, Catholicism, or Mormonism, or Calvinism. Would you be offering the same advice? (And more to the point, would the school even allow a poster with a religious theme?)

That should be "hang a poster."
