Mr. Sparks (her fiance) said Ms. duFresne was strongly against capital punishment, and would have felt some sympathy for her young attacker. "This isn't about some bad, murdering criminal," he said. "It's about a culture that makes it so easy for kids to have guns."

"When women hang around girly-boys, its the women who die."
Not if they're armed. A protective guy is nice, but a gun works just as well.

Well, I'm a girl...and it just seemed a more than weird reaction from somebody that young and in love...which is why it makes me wonder if they WERE in love? Yet, you are right, some women take on the macho thing...just none of my friends...oh well...this guy's reaction just still seems more than odd to me. Maybe I watch "Law and Order" too much.

I don't know what she saw in him but with his victim attitude he better move to France.
In New York he's just part of the food chain.

Why didn't you post the whole article? The New York Slimes is not on the excerption list.

Liberals almost universally refuse to acknowledge evil, except in the most extreme cases, which is why they often describe murderers as being "sick" and other criminals as having made a "mistake."They can't even acknowledge its existence in the most extreme circumstances. I saw a program on PBS once (Yes, I watch PBS occasionally. Please don't hate me!) which had a distinguished jurist (I think it was one of the Supremes) having a discussion with a bunch of young students (late high school or college) and he could not get even one of them to admit that any act (or actor) was evil. He brought up some horrific real life examples, and none of the kids would commit to the word evil.
We might as well lose the word from the language. I wish I had a tape of that show. It would be worth paying money to public television - in this one instance - to get a copy of that program.
P.S. - Mostly, I just watch "New Yankee Workshop" and "Ask This Old House" on PBS. And if anybody knows that Norm Abrams is a flaming liberal, I don't want to hear about it.

Miss Solomon said that after she first encountered the "animal house," she sat down with Miss Lee. "I said, 'Jenny, do you have any sense what it feels like to have your home destroyed?' And she just kind of looked at me with this sort of nonexpression."People like Jennifer Fake Lee make me question the existence of God. That worthless scum like her can prosper while far better people suffer every day of their lives...

Does this guy think that evil gun would have showed up and shot her own it's own, without a mudering criminal attached to it? In 40 years none of mine ever went for a walk or hunting without me or mine.Just checked, all of mine aer still in the safe.

Remember Robert Fisk and the Islamic mob that beat him up and of course he blamed Bush and the war. Somehow his name and ultra lib wimp behaviour should be part of the characterization.

Thus, a woman like that dating a soldier just back from Iraq is about as likely as me dating a metrosexual, vegetarian wimp who won't get a job because he's too busy writing "poetry."
I agree with most of that but come on...don't perpetuate the myth of poetry not being worthwhile or valueable. John Milton was a bigger man then most today are.

Oh I know the type. They're more sensitive then you are. They understand things better. And frankly, they just feel things a little deeper. :-)

"Women have lowered the expectations of men. Or rather I think its the other way around. Women are expected to act like men and men should see what feels like to be a woman for a change. Welcome to the new affirmative action."

The four people accosted by the scum were white. The four people who were the scum were black.
HATE CRIME! HATE CRIME! On no, I forgot. Has nothing to do with a hate crime since they were in the robbery mode. Now change the races in the same situation, HATE CRIME, HATE CRIME.

From what I saw on the news last evening it seems there was a group of about seven people marauding thru the area.
Another man was attacked about an hour before this fatal attack.
