I Bet he was warmer than anyone there. Since when do you have to be a "Fashion Plate" to visit Auschwitz?

He looks a heck of a lot warmner than the others do. Frankly, were I an older guy with some recent health issues I wouldn't want to "look good" out there either, I'd want to be warm. I was dressed like that for his innauguration (and Bush's) so I can't exactly complain that he dresses that way too.

I'll bet he was the least concerned about how he looked. Seemed to make sense to me. My bald head is heat conduit to the sky - and bet his is to.
The last thing we want him to do is to get sick.

Good grief, you can even see the snow on his shoes. Unfortunate that he was the only one dressed like that (you know, for the COLD), and didn't wear a business suit (and freeze his a$$ off). But somebody on Cheney's team didn't do his/her pre-visit homework when they should have. Really, is it that big a deal? OK, he looks different. Maybe that's a good thing. I understand he changed into his business suit for the Auschwitz visit, though.

I don't care how they call him on it he was protected from the cold having to sit for about 2 hours in freezing conditions when you have had 4 heart attacks is no fun.
He wore clothes in Auschwitz that he obviously knew from previous experience would protect him and allow him to remain out in the cold freezing snowy weather. When he placed the candle he took off the hat and gloves and put the hood of the coat down so he did show respect.
What none of these reporters have mentioned is that this man is 64 on Sunday and has had 4 heart attacks they soon enough mention this when they want to say he is not up to doing something or is a liability. Now they are inferring that he is capable of withstanding the winter conditions as though he is a fit spring chicken as usual the MSM want their cake and to eat it. To infer it was for his own comfort rather than his health is beyond the pale and is despicable.
As for the hiking boots they were obviously to stop him from slipping on the snow and were probably boots he wears at home regularly and again feels safe in them in this weather. He is a man who coming from WY is used to these conditions and knows what he needs to wear to combat them. He obviously wore clothes that were old not brand new or borrowed gear such as Kerry did on the campaign trail. Again he is showing he is no protected flower but a real man who despite his health issues obviously does regularly go out and about in this weather and owns and wears the clothes to prove it.
I think you can tell I am hopping mad.
These people forget it is Dick Cheney and his colleagues that are protecting them and despite all they say about him he will continue to do so.
Today he was walking about all the time so the long black overcoat is fine but would not keep out freezing weather if you were sitting in it. The VP is a prudent man and this is why he is still able to have an incredible schedule because he does what he has to ensure that he can live a normal life and if that does mean wearing a green parka, hiking boots and a ski hat that is fine by me.

I Bet he was warmer than anyone there. Those Russian fur hats are much warmer than a knit ski cap.

My husband had heart trouble and took blood thinners as part of his medication. It could be that the VP is also on blood thinners which would cause him to feel cold weather more acutely.

Does anyone actually believe the Vice President gives a rats ass about what they think?
He's warm, thats all that matters.

Cheney and his wife lived in Wisconsin for awhile. He knows warm beats fashion any day.

I visited Dachau once. It didn't occur to me to dress in my most somber and fashionable funeral attire. I hope nobody was offended... /s
