So if the shoe was on the other foot, and it was a Democratic president paying columnists to push "gay marriage," that would be OK too.

What about Walter Pincus? George Soros' buying of columnists? etc. etc.

The Democrats do it all the time, it's business as usual... Repubs do it, it is criminal...

Maggie Gallagher was paid for specific work, not bribed to fabricate an opinion and use her column to promote that opinion.

"I was not paid to promote marriage. I was paid to produce particular research and writing products (articles, brochures, presentations), which I produced. My lifelong experience in marriage research, public education and advocacy is the reason HHS hired me.

A Question of Disclosure

Maggie Gallagher: "It is not uncommon for researchers, scholars, or experts to get paid by the government to do work relating to their field of expertise. Nor is it considered unethical or shady: if anything, government funded work is considered a mark of an expert’s respectability. Until today, researchers and scholars have not generally been expected to disclose a government-funded research project in the past, when they later wrote about their field of expertise in the popular press or in scholarly journals."

The only difference in paid Republican journalists and paid democrat jopurnalists is that the paid democrat journalists don't get ratted out, because it is democrats doing the ratting.

Ambrose, do you suppose this is the first time in our history this has happened? I think not, but that this is going to be made into a large scandal by the left who have had the majority of the mainstream media in their pockets for years.

Michael McManus, conservative author of the syndicated column "Ethics & Religion," caught with his hand in the Bush till

That's like William Bennett -- that bastion of morality, that paragon of virtue -- who was discovered to be a high-stakes gambler.

These ethics and virtue guys aren't doing very well. They preach ethics & virtue & morality, but don't follow it in their own lives.
