EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- The dismembered body of a missing East Moline teenager has been found, and a classmate tonight is under arrest for her brutal murder. Sarah Kolb is charged with first degree murder in the death of Adrianne Reynolds, 16.
Prosecutors announced the murder charge at a news conference at Illinois State Police Headquarters this morning.
Authorities believe Adrianne was strangled and beaten with a wooden handle in a car in broad daylight at a Taco Bell parking lot in Moline. Later, her body was taken to Mercer County in an attempt to burn it.When that didn't work, her body was cut into pieces and dumped at Black Hawk State Park.
Authorities made the discovery around midnight.
Adrianne's father and stepmother, Tony and Joann Reynolds had reported their daughter missing when she failed to show up to work after school on Friday.
Kolb and Reynolds were classmates at Blackhawk Outreach Center in East Moline, an alternative school for kids trying to get their GED's. Friends there tell Newschannel 8 that Kolb had made a death threat against Reynolds the day she disappeared, and say Kolb was jealous of the new kid in school. Reynolds had been attending the school for just a few weeks, after coming to East Moline from Texas to live with her dad.
In court today, Judge John Bell read court documents that stated the crime was committed ''while acting with another,'' but so far, only Kolb has been charged.
Kolb, who told the judge today she works at the movie cinemas in Davenport, is being held at the Mary Davis juvenile detention center in Galesburg on $1 million bond.

EAST MOLINE -- Sarah Kolb and Adrianne Reynolds were classmates at Black Hawk Outreach Center. Their fellow classmates remember the chilling threats made the very day Adrianne disappeared.
"[Kolb] had mentioned to a few people that she was going to kill her," said Jackie Martinez, 17. "She [said], 'I don't care.' She told people she wasn't afraid to kill her and she would do it and she's not scared."
Adrianne was the new kid at school just a few weeks. She was trying to make a fresh start and earn a General Education Diploma.
"She was pretty and funny," said Betty Wilson, 16.
And the boys noticed. Wilson says that's what threw Sarah into a jealous rage.
"They just had some problems over boys and Sarah was upset," Wilson recalled.
Wilson said Kolb had been a student here for over a year and was popular.
"Sarah was really nice," said Wilson. "She got along with everyone and all the sudden Adianne came in, and it's totally different, she says, 'I will kill her, I will kill her.'"
Wilson was one of the last people to see Adrianne alive on Friday afternoon.
"I just saw Adrianne and Sarah and two males get into the car. I heard they were going to Taco Bell to get lunch."
Wilson says Adrianne wasn't looking for trouble. She only wanted to make a fresh start, desperate to fit in with the "in" crowd.
"Adrianne really wanted to be Sarah's friend. That was all she wanted."
This girl is a nutcase. IM really surprised her parents didn't see the sighns or tried to get her some help. Another thing why didn't any one take these threats serious. This girl could be alive today to me any threat is for real. I kinda know what those parents are going thru No I don't that would be hell but my brother was stabbed 7 times and left for dead in Moline Ill.He died twice in the emergency room. Three guys where involed one took off and got help. If didn't he wouldnt be here today. Hes has some nasty scars where they stabbed him.I remember that morning like it was yesterday happened 17 years ago. I got a glance of the emergency room his blood was every where. What piss me off there walking free today. I don't want to see these kids do the same. Like I said I live here in the Quad Cities I don't think I could go by that Taco Bell. My brother got stabbed by Burts Cleaners I still cant go by there. Why didn't any one help in a parking lot or there too busy feeding there fat faces before they rush back to work. I hope that third suspect dont get off he was there to see her body and did nothing what a idiot. These kids are simply too stupid to be alive. A co worker today where talking abou this she told a friend of Gregory is trying to raise money for his bail. If I see this kid Im punching him.I have a nephew the same age of this girl that why I said she was nothing but a baby 16.IM sorry if I had a daughter some one did this I would skin them alive. and drop them in pile of salt. I still would like to see a memorial for Adrianne Renynolds.
You ask some good questions as to why people didn't do anything. I guess that's a question that will never be answered, unfortunately.

Poor grandmother, I feel for her. But she did the right thing! Of course, she might have realized the consequences too for her if she tried to conceal the evidence. (not implying that was her motivation to notify authorities)
What a thing for a grandmother to live with .. knowing your teen grandson helped murder a classmate.

This post is going to kind of ramble on. I just registered after lurking for a few weeks. I was raised Moline and moved out West about 2 years ago. I also read the QC newspapers everyday online just to keep up. This case is too close to home for me. I went to Moline High School, Blackhawk College, went to Blackhawk State Park, used to go 4x4 on Big Island and hang out in the Taco Bell parking lot when "cruising the Avenue" was cool. I have been in fights, hung out with the bad crowd, drank a lot of beer, smoked some pot ;along with cigarettes in the school, taken cars out for joy rides, wore black concert T Shirts, got my ear pierced. I did my fair share of rebelling but I always knew right from wrong. The death of this young girl is horrible, the act of mutilating her body has no words in which can be described. Let justice be served.
Thanks you man. No he didn't know his attackers him and friend was walking back to there house and three guys jumped him. And his one hell of a best friend left him. They had a steak knife and stabbed him seven times and left him in his puddle of blood. One of the attackers was smart enough and had a heart to call for help.That happened in 1988 I remember what video was on MTV that morning Van Halen's Panama.I tried looking for them you know get even I had second thaughts. And he did live two of the attackers served small amount of time. I cant remember wasnt much. IM not going to see these two do the same cause what they did was beyond.I will remember this to the day I die.

I was wondering the same thing. Looking at the Rock Island County Court site and doing a people search I have looked up both Gregory and Kolb's public records. It seems he is charged with both Murder w/intent to kill and Murder w/probably intent to kill along with concealing a homicide. Kolb was originally only charged with Murder w/ intent but later Murder w/probably intent and concealing a homicide were added. It definitely leaves questions in my mind. My theory is one of 2 things...either they have charged them with 2 counts because Reynolds was pregnant or because they want the door open for some conviction even if they can't prove pre-meditation. I'm pretty sure that the second theory can't be because I believe each charge has to accompany a body but if the jury wants to convict of a lesser charge they have that right without that charge actually being filed. But even with that both murder charges are class M felonies. If anyone with law knowledge can chime in here that would be greatly appreciated.
I think Sarah was a regular poster on devientart.com but now they have taken both Sarah and Cory's sites down with just a note of condolance. I am a Quad Citian who has become interested in this case as my 15 yr old son knew Adrienne through aquantance.
I have done my own study of social behaviors in the teen arena and it is my belief that bi-sexuality has become a trend amungst teen age girls for nothing more than attention. Saying Adrienne or Sarah were bi-sexual may be a jump in my opinion as young girls are experiment early with that possibility as it is an attention getter with the boys...again, only my opinion.
I've heard through a couple people who knew Adrienne that a memorial is already in the works. I'm not sure if the state will approve it to go in Blackhawk State Park because they are very protective of their ground. I think whoever is collecting the money for that should hit the Taco Bell Parent Corporation for a nice donation.
Cruisin on the Avenue....now that's a memory. You must be from my time. To think they outlawed that, as I recall no one was murdered up there when it was legal.

Your second theory was the correct one. Two charges allows the prosecution to argue two theories. I finally found an article that explained why two counts of 1st degree murder were charged vs Kolb & Gregory. Here:

And, yeh, I think Gaudet is definitely a bad news character. I can see how he could have gotten drawn in unaware to the hacking up of the body on Sunday. But the supposed fact that he didn't come forward w/ what he knew (his mother & grandmother called the authorities on Wednesday according to accounts), is a big statement as to his character.
Thanks for the tip...I went to the Rock Island Cty Court site & did a little digging. Gaudet was charged w/ 'unlawful use of a weapon' 5/22/02...when he was 13. The 'disorderly conduct' charge was 2/10/03 (age 14). The 11/03 date is 'last upload'...scan down & look for 'Initial Open Date'. We may be looking at only the tip of the iceberg.
