XM, Sirius Deny Rumor Of Merger By Annys Shin Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, January 27, 2005; Page E05 Former Viacom Inc. president Mel Karmazin held his first conference call with analysts as chief executive of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. yesterday to discuss the company's rising revenue and its 2005 guidance. But the first question he got wasn't about Sirius's financial outlook. It was about a rumor that Sirius was in talks to merge with its rival, District-based XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.
"Regarding a rumor that's out today, I've been with the company about eight weeks. This is about my third rumor that I've confronted," Karmazin replied.

XM was told "You can't be Sirius".
Bad enough I have to hear those insulting "Amos and Andy" ads on XM, I'd hate to have to suffer Stern ads too. I believe in the Seperation of XM and Sirius.
hehehe!
How did this start?
No thanks. I like my XM Sirius-free.
Ditto that!

You would prefer Opie and Anthony ads.
I don't even know what they're talking about, but it's an unpleasant ad.
"Psst, hey, you wanna catch a peek of XM's two-headed baby in a jar?"
"How does even hold a cigarette with those nubby little fingers?"
"Making kissy faces with those little rabbit teeth..."
It's just no class.
I'd prefer NONE. I made that clear in my post. "It's bad enough with this...I'd hate that TOO..."
I never really did hear many Stern ads, when he first signed his contract they would have them (hardly never on the country channels).
On a side note, I bet it would be easy to integrate both Sirius and XM with the existing hardware, I know that the really tiny antennas for XM, especially the ones that are less than an inch^2 and about 1/4 inch tall :), do work for Sirius tuners as all. But why have only 1 sat radio provider, no competition in that...
I tell ya - anyone who's interested in investing - put your money in Sirius RIGHT NOW! I don't care what any "expert" tells you - DO IT! Open yourself an account at Sharebuilder.com, or some other online investment site and watch the stock via NASDAQ.com
Now is a great time to invest since the price is still low - around $6.31 a share.
In May 2003, against all advice I ever read from "experts", I invested about $2k of completely disposable money I had into XM Satellite Radio when it was at around $10.50 a share. Over the next 18 months, that nearly quadrupled!
XM capped out this past December at around $40 a share. I pulled my money out and started watching Sirius, which was announcing expansion. I dumped the whole thing into Sirius about 10 days ago - again against the "experts' advice - and it has done the exact same thing XM did at first - went up, then down, then up.... I expect it to start shooting through the roof just like XM pretty soon.
If you've got a spare $5k or so just laying around, invest now! I can't see it bottoming out, can you? It can only go up, I think!!!
Just some advice from ole Uncle Don because I care.
(Don't be kicking yourself a year from now saying "Wish I woulda..."!!!)
$5k? I needed to scrape up $5 for lunch! I'll have to wait till I winn the Lotto!!!
Scrape up another $6.31 and you've got one share! (Of course, it costs $15.95 for each buy/sell transaction....so make that $22.26).
If that quadruples, you've got yerself a cool $25.24!!! Nearly $3 profit!
What a deal, eh?
If you read his short statement its a non-denial denial... 'never met with chairman of XM, never met with CEO of XM, do't know where rumor got started"... but never says flat out it isn't true. Never met with doesn't rule out phone calls, emails or conversations below CEO level.
Oliver Stone must have made the ads.
XM 171, the independent trucker channel, constituted the majority of my listening. Also mentioned XM 5, XM 152 with Phil Hendrie, and Rush on the local AM station.
Received XM radio as a Birthday gift Oct 2002, liked it so much starting buying shares Jan 2003. Starting buying SIRI June 2003...
Let's not talk Market Cap, makes no sense at all....
