Citing a Journal Sentinel review that found more than 1,200 votes cast from invalid addresses in Milwaukee, local and federal law enforcement officials launched a joint investigation Wednesday into potential voter fraud in the Nov. 2 election.
Milwaukee County District Attorney E. Michael McCann said he and U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic agreed to investigate potential problems together. The effort will also include the Milwaukee Police Department and the local office of the FBI.
McCann told the newspaper the group of prosecutors and investigators, including one with computer expertise, will try to "see if there was voter fraud or not. That's the major thrust."
. . .
The group will have access to original documents and materials the newspaper has not been able to see. There is no specified timetable for completing the review.
The joint approach may minimize partisan criticism of its results. McCann is a Democrat. Biskupic was appointed to his post by a Republican.
. . .
Problems pile up
Meanwhile, a separate state audit that is to include a focus on Milwaukee's election problems could be put into place as early as today. Those problems ranged from registration cards that weren't processed before the election to absentee ballots that were not counted until weeks after the election.
And a new Journal Sentinel review of the city's voting records shows the system is so flawed that more than 300 people are listed as voting twice from the same address, even though each apparently was given only one ballot.
That increases the size of a gap, already at more than 8,300, between the number of ballots cast and the number of people who can be identified as voting in the presidential election, which in Wisconsin was determined by about 11,000 votes.

...and Keg Lout'n'schlepper's victory came at the expense of Biskupic's BROTHER...no less.
As I mentioned a few years ago, there is NO QUESTION in my mind that the 5,000 vote "victory" of Gore in Wisconsin was a complete fraud.
Why? Easy. For the first time in my memory, the City of Milwaukee's totals came in AFTER 10:00 PM--and the City has the most modern equipment of all in the State of Wisconsin.
It just took them 2+ hours to re-arrange the totals.
With a name and a history that is so wide-open to ridicule (damn, but that's good), how did she ever win in 2002, and if Steve Biskupic does something about fraud in my little corner of the state, how bad will she get creamed in 2006?
She's dead meat walking. The Pubbies have a problem, though--there are two announced candidates for AG on their side--one is a RINO from Western Wi., the other is an anti-CCW boob who is the DA from Waukesha County (you know, the guy who couldn't convict the Packer of rape...)
Another election with no one to vote FOR...
bttt
There are plenty of blogspots which are covering the mess in excruciating detail. The Fonz is dead, Richie's the Mayor of Milwaukee, and LaVerne & Shirley left town after Schlitz closed in 1985.
How many elections are there where one can actually vote FOR something instead of picking the lesser of two evils? About the last non-Presidential one I can remember is, heck, I can't remember.
Damn, forgot about county exec (Scott Walker), last 2 Congressional (thank you Paul Ryan) and the last contested Assembly race (the RATs didn't even up anybody up against Honadel).
That is very good news.
I was born in Milwaukee but haven't lived near there in over thirty years, but this name sent my antennae upward as someone who may be a bit controversial. Any help, WisFreepers?
Keg won rode the elect-a-dim-gov-for-change's-sake bandwagon into office, IMO. There is no way she gets re-elected. Not after the DUI and lies she's told about that and use of the state's vehicle. Didya hear she's taken control of the Vang prosecution? Total publicity stunt. But she looks like a freak these days . . . so it will probably backfire.
Bucher couldn't convict Chmura because Chmura wasn't guilty.
He'd be better than Keg, but you're right, he doesn't inspire much optimism. Somebody else has gotta announce his/her candidacy before fall, I hope.
See post 38. McCann's claim to fame was putting Dahmer behind bars. Other than that slam dunk, he's earned a reputation for being a particularly obvious political hack.
The city of St. Louis as well -- registerd voters outnumber the voting age population.
Hello F.B.I.....Can you spare any agents to come out to Seattle????
The local TV folks have been VERY careful not to show a current picture of Lout'n'schlepper...
But has she shaved her head?
