I doubt these people took color of skin into account. I'm sure the fact that she currently works for and was nominated by Bush was reason enough for them not to vote for her.

Aren't you proud of our senator from Mich? Wish there was something that could be done about this guy!

I doubt these people took color of skin into account.

Robert "Sheets" Byrd was once a member of the KKK. He filibustered the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act – supported by a majority of those ‘mean-spirited’ Republicans – for more than 14 hours. Byrd is the only senator to vote against both black Supreme Court justice nominees — Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas.

In 1947, he [Robert Byrd] criticized the military's proposed integration. In a letter to segregationist senator Theodore Bilbo (D, Miss.), Byrd said he would "never submit to fight beneath the banner [the American flag] with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."

Nah - I doubt that "Sheets" even noticed the color of Condi's skin... ;-)
